Good luck Ash. I am at 400/600 2x daily; and have little problems for a month. Hope that continues.
Not a smoker. That's a whole other list of problems.

Welcome to Hep forum, Ash! We are those with liver disease and those who love them. I am glad to see you are on treatment and will soon be free from Hep C.
I have not heard that smoking will stop treatment meds from working. I won't lecture you on smoking since you are an adult and can make your own decisions : ) Check with your doctor to be certain on that. Again...welcome! Big Hugs

We have had some posts from those in treatment who smoke medically prescribed herbals. Those members have asked their doctors and gotten various recommendations...some report that it does not negatively effect the treatment.
The risks of smoking and general health are well know. How you handle those risks is personal.
However, please know that if you health every got to needing a transplant, you would be required to quit smoking tobacco products as part of their protocol.
Best to you...the usual recommendations for treatment are to take riba with a fatty snack and to drink lots of water to ward off side effects.

Glad things are going well for you Ash. I quit smoking cigs a year ago but I am still using the e-cigs. The doctor told me not to try to stop while on treatment. Guess they think it will just add to anxiety. 3 cigs doesn't sound like anything to worry about. I was a pack a day smoker since 14 (I'm 67 now) Regarding medically prescribed herbals, my doctor said no to that and any herbal supplements because there is no data as to whether they would lessen the ability of the medications to fully work.
Why such a low dose of Ribavarin? I take 600 am and 400 pm and I weigh 135 lbs

Hello Ash, I also am/was GT 4 (you are the only other besides myself that I have seen with this Genotype here). I have just completed my 24 week treatment and am still undetected. Hang in there... you can do it.

Hello Ash,
No, quit smoking about 5 years ago. As far as support goes, you are in the right place. This forum has some very knowledgeable people. If you have any questions regarding the 24 week treatment all you have to do is ask. I started on the 13th of Aug 2014 and finished on the 27th of Jan. As I said before, same genotype as you.
