HEARING LOSS AND HARVONI

I developed it after 2 weeks and after stopping it has not resolved.
I can no longer perform all of my functions at work.
Is anyone else experiencing this?

I hope you find your post here and that folks respond HERE.

My Mike has a long history of hearing loss, but we always figured it was congenital...his dad wore hearing aids and a brother as well.

BUT, when I googled Harvoni and Hearing Loss I found several research studies and some other posts saying that this may be a side effect.

I then went back to OTHER treatments for Hep C, way back to the Interferon/Riba days that Mike did in 2003, and they talk about hearing loss, quick onset from that treatment as well.

So, maybe there IS a link. Who knows.

However, Mike has had liver cancer, cirrhosis, a transplant and now he is ALIVE, Hep C free (after TP he treated with Sovaldi and Olysio), and gladly wears hearing aids.

I am not sure there is a total link, only that there is "stuff" on google. Peek around.

BEST TO YOU...I AM SHOUTING SO YOU CAN HEAR ME...joking of course. I mean no offense.

Dennis has been having some hearing issues as well since finishing Harvoni. He got an ear infection and then found out he had a hole in his ear drum. He has complained about his hearing since treatment and I've noticed he doesn't act like he can hear that well even with hearing aides. He was on Neomycin for years and his hepatologist took him off of it because he said that medication causes hearing loss. Dennis has another appointment the end of this month to see about repairing the hole in his ear drum....

Now can we say all of this is from Harvoni, No not really. It does seem strange that it all happened around the same time. Dennis has been very sick since finishing Harvoni. Mainly stomach issues and we know that it's either Harvoni related or Liver disease issues brought on by the fact that Harvoni didn't work and since then Hep C has awoken big time and it is causing inflammation issues with his liver.

Dealing with everything one day at a time...Things are getting better!!

I think, it could be caused because of you are nerves, your heart is overloaded or stressed, or... a there can be a lot of reasons. So, in case audiology expert or doctor can’t localize your problem, you should go to neurologist or cardiology specialist, and audilogist. Only this way can help you to find the reason. My beloved uncle did the same, but he has had problem with his ears because of the age:D, I bought him hearing aid on artone and he his happy, and living like he did as healthy man before.

This is your first post with us...so maybe you are searching for hearing loss and liver disease.

The post you brought forwarad is from 2010....so those interested at that time are likely long moved on to other phases of their life.

However, if you have liver disease and want to start a string of your own, start a new discussion and tell us a little about yourself.

I was the moderator here and post some, but have not been that active since my own health issues in 2015. B ut welcome and HOW CAN WE HELP YOU?
