"any med" taken while being treated for hep c.
Having said that, have you talked to one of your specialty pharmacists?
I chatted with mine a few times...worth their weight in gold. These folks know pharmacokinetics & pharmacodynamics like no one else and most importantly, how it all relates to your hep c treatment. Good to have this info when you speak to your doc.
I know that ambien is contraindicated in the presence of hepatic encephalopathy since it can exacerbate HE, but as I recall, you don't have any hx. of cirrhosis. I know ambien is ok with Ribavirin as I talked this over with my specialty pharm and hep doc. The problem for me was the Telaprevir.
My doc pretty much uses Trazodone for his hep c patients. Like I said in another post, it worked great for me...easy getting to and staying asleep and helped with the nausea, which was really, really bad the 1st 12 weeks while on the Telaprevir.
Here's an interesting article I found on sleepers and liver disease:
hepatitiscnewdrugresearch.com/medications-for-sleep-in-liver-disease.htmledit to make link hot :)
