My husband and I have always gotten along well. He was diagnosed with HepC and has been on Pegasys and Copegus for about 3 months now. He is so irritable, and he yells at me and acts like I'm stupid. Last night I tried to get out of the house to get away and he wouldn't let me. I don't think I am in physical danger or anything. I just get my feelings hurt because I was verbally abused almost my whole life and don't get over it easily. It ruins my day and I'm at my wit's end with no one to talk to about it.  He acts like everything is fine until the next outburst. He thinks I should pretend everything is fine when I'm miserable. I don't know what to do.

Anyone out there that can offer some advice.

Thanks for your response. His Dr. gave him Zoloft, but he only took it once or twice and it made him very lightheaded so he stopped.

He has sinus stuffiness and shortness of breath and sleeps a lot. I guess I need to just grow a thicker skin or something. It is doubly hard because we work together in our own business and he is always finding fault with things I do, say, etc. for work and regular house and personal things, too. 

I really just need to vent and I appreciate your support.

Hi JBL, have I think 13 weeks left out of 48. I know it tuff on the wifes. We tend to lash out at the ones we love more than others. You need to look at getting him back on some kind of meds for depression. If he is having problem get him on something. They started me on Lexapro 10 mg starting out and up it to 20 at about week23 or so. I'm lucky and able to work so my mind is on other things I'm just about to the point I'm gong to have to take leave due to lack of sleep and body being sore all the time. I'm starting to have problems at work. I know it hard to talk to someone in the shape he's in but talk to the doctors and see what they can come up with it worth if if you find something that works..

Thanks, Don. He has started back on the Zoloft, and hasn't yelled at me for a couple weeks. He sleeps a lot and feels stuffy and woozy, but at least the hep meds seem to be working. I hope the Zoloft will kick in soon and he will feel closer to his old self. I appreciate your input, and good luck with your treatment! J :-)

HI JBL. I don't have hep c but I do have severe advanced cirhosis & hepatic encephalopathy. My husband goes throgh a lot with me too. I know how hard it is on our loved ones, I see it in my husbands eyes everyday. Just want to say hang in there kiddo.You & your husband are in my prayers.God bless&give you strength.

Thank you so much, lerie. I am sorry you are so ill.  My husband is doing his best to keep his irritability to a minimum and we know it will be over in 7 months, so that helps. He quit taking the Zoloft after reading an article that the reason antidepressants seem to work is mainly the placebo effect, and he didn't like the way they made him feel. He is on a new shot for anemia, and that seems to help with the fatigue. Another thing that has helped is having him go visit his family for 2 weeks over the holidays, and I'll be taking a vacation in March. Too much togetherness sometimes makes us get on each other's nerves, too.
