Just curious has anyone looked into stem cells for liver disease? I just started looking but it seems like using our bodies own stem cells would be a good idea. I tried searching the forums and saw nothing on it.

been following stem cell treatment for years. It has been tried for many diseases, including MS, my disease.
its not close yet.

as far as liver is concerned, I don't think its useful. the liver can regenerate itself. and the liver is very efficient at regeneration. I was researching live donation recently, and found that the liver can regenerate more then half its size, in less than 2 months.

I don't think it can fix hepatitis.. but who knows.

Yeah being in the medical field for years I knew how well the liver can repair itself if its allowed. Im doing DDP yoga and starting his stage 2 diet. Not sure I can go right to stage 3 but may have to. Ill miss ice cream but i only eat a baby cone as it is. I buy the mini cones but it cuts out all dairy and I love sharp cheddar and cottage cheese etc. Never thought dairy would be my biggest issues but it beats dying right?

I did some research on stem cells and some of what ive read says by taking our own stem cell it has showed some promise as of 2016. And from what Ive seen they are aggressively researching it and are close to human trials due to lack of donor livers and the increase of liver disease. I think its the best hope we have. Live donors are great however Im not sure I could ask someone especially a loved one to break me off a piece of liver. And god forbid the live donor died or had complications I couldnt live with myself anyways. Imagine losing your wife or kid or brother bc you wanted to live? Not sure how many of us could ask that. And to take someone else from their friends or family who we dont know? No thanks. Now if people signed up for random donation for cash etc through a closely monitored program that was on the up and up then maybe id do it. My fiance is a universal donor who meet my dimensions perfectly. Similar age, same height, weight etc but id never allow her to do that and risk leaving our 4 kids behind. I need to find a way to get this out of my mind but easier said than done. Sorry for the long post.

im not endorsing live donation in any way.

What I am saying is, at this time, I don't see stem cells fixing liver disease. liver disease being viral , alcoholic, fatty liver etc..

what I can see, is a trial to improve liver function, on a liver that is too far gone. (cant regenerate)

if you have time, google clinicaltrials.gov, and type in your disease in question.
