2 diabetes and liver disease

hey tell me if anybody knows or if you have delt with this before my mom has been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. well there is such a thing called liver diabetes. patients with cirrhosis develope it . my mom was diagnosed with end stage liver disease 4 years ago she has had hep c since she was 19. i was 9 when she was diagnosed with cirrohsis im 22 now. about a month ago her ammonia levels rose pretty high they increased her lactilose 4 times a day at 45ml a dose. to much. and it dont work no more she takes neomyicn i was just reading about type 2 diabetes and cirrhoisis. and it came up that infact she dont have type 2. its liver diabetes. the 2 are hard to figure out when you have cirrhosis. doctor have told me that they think my mom has about a year if she continues to take her meds and eat right. she is in a assited living which she just moved in there a week ago.from a nursing home. hospice has already came in and talk to her. they said that they can come in at anytime when it is time and take care of her. she has a large speen her white cell count is at 2000 becasuse her spleen is eating them to stay healthybut its getting sick now which is due to esld. her count is supposed to be between 6000-11000. so yeah she is sick and i just read that with diabetes and cirrhosis you have a shorter life expectancy is this true i know that theres nothing they can due for her she isnt edgible  for a transplant becuase she has a certain type of staph its mrsaa reacurring staph she takes bactrum. they have her on morphine and vicoden she acts like a zombie when she takes the stuff cause her liver is so poor. but on the brighter side she is cohearant and likes to wlk to the store. my cousin and her family come and pick her up for the day but latley she says my mom is like a zombie. IT JUST SUCKS MAN   THANKS FOR LISTENING

please people i need some support im not as strong as everybody keeps telling me

i know my life will go on but i was raise by her as an only child and only by her my dad i didnt know until i was 10 and even then he wasnt there.

so  if anybody can share a little strenghth and courage it would be appreciated.i can handle the truth to.

I'm sorry to hear about your mom.  My husband has HCV/Chirosis.  He is on the liver transplant list.  I'm here to tell you that I know exactly what you are talking about when you say "your not as strong as people think".  I feel the same.  Yet somehow everyday, I get up go to work, come home and take care of my husband.  Sometimes I wish someone would just come in and say, Pati, go ....  just go and relax, don't worry about home or work we'll handle everything.  Oh wouldn't that be a dream!  But I think we are stronger then even we think we are.  We work for peace in our lives, and keep going until we get it.  So, anytime you feel like you are weak....give us a shout.  Someone is always quick to answer and lift me...they will be here for you too.

Autumn, (pretty name!), do you have family and friends to help you get through this? We are here for you all the time, but it's not quite the same as in person. I sleep more than doing anything else....anywhere from 13 to16 hours a day. There's just no energy. Don't be mad at your mom for that--it's the disease. I'm mad as h--- at the disease, myself!

 i think the hardest part is you feel so powerless and you just dont know what to do, i was mad at the world when i lost my father, i had my husband and son but my son was no help he was a bigger mess than i was, he was very close thank god for my husband!!

 you except it you really dont have a choice, i know its sounds cruel but its the way it is.

 i kinda been mad at the world anyway!!! does she really need all that pain meds? with her liver not working thats part of the problem being a zoobie.

 you have to try and enjoy what ever good days she has, and its hard.

 She saids she has already done her assesments with hospice and there just waiten for the ok I guess. One thing I dont understand is why arent they putting her on hospice if the liver is dead and not functioning ya know.

 I did read something about the liver producing dead liver enzymes when it get as far as it can go before shutting down. Is the next step cancer or is it death.

Her doc said a year ago that her liver is severly de-compensated and cirrotic from the disease. 

Well what ever the outcome of this terrifying illness, I just hope she has a chance to feel that her family loves her and

we are there when its close to her time.Her doctor said that even though her pain meds affects are much more stronger do due liver not working he said thats the key to keeping her comfortable because her meds wiil soon be no help. And then he was real blunt and said if she is lucky she may have a year,giving her a greater chance oh devolping cancer, or she may have as little as 6 months.

 The strangest about all this is that she is for the most part feeling ok.

she is in pain from her liver hurting her  pretty bad and she is tired.

but her ammonia levels are high and she isnt confused yet. she takes neomyicn and lactalose for hepatatic encephalopathy. she got that for years ago when she was diagnosed with esld.

Doctor said because of them being so high it takes more time to build up. But she is showing sign of her nerves acting delicate. well I'm going to miss her but it will all be good stuff that i think about my mom when i miss her.  Hey Ive been told that I'm being  to hard on myself and im much stronger than I think  and I know that i StILL Dont want to give her up yet im only 22 my daughter is only two 1/2 and I just am going to miss my best friend.

hey I just wanted to say regaurdless of what the doctor says it only matters about the actual person who is sick.Does he have end stage liver disease, its what you get when you are far advanced with cirrhosis. My mother was diagnosed when I was 9 I am now 22. She was diagnosed with end stage liver diasease about 4 years ago. doctor said she is lucky to have made it this far. he says she should be dead right now but she is not. my moms liver isnt producing live liver cells anymore thay are dead. Her liver is completely damaged from the cirrhosis. Doctor said there is no more healthy part of my moms liver. she is not edgiable for a transplant. so the worst. I feel the same way. i was raised as a only child by my singled parent mother. it was always me and her. im terrifyed. But theres nothin they can do for her anymore. doc said too, that if my moms diet and medicene is still working she may have a year left. but if it doesnt she may pass a lot sooner. Its in gods hands. Really!!!!!!!!!!! I'm waiting on the phone call from the doc to tell me that my mom only has a couple of weeks. Sweety the best advice i can give you is try to use all the options to get him better. it might not be to late to do pegusis interfearon. my mom tryed it a few years ago and she was a non responder.it made her too sick. but some people can get rid of it if caught early enough. next option is transplant your dad might be able to get one. my mom couldnt. and if none of that works then just enjoy the time you will be able to spend. sorry if its not what your looking for.
