It's been a while...update on my husband..

Hello everyone

I know it has been a while since I've posted an update on my husband Robert.  I hope you are all doing well under each one's circumstances.  Robert was hospitalized in early March.  He had another episode of bleeding varices and to our surprise was diagnosed as a diabetic (Like we needed more issues to deal with).  But anyway, he seems to be doing well now and his numbers for his diabetes are coming down.  So that's a good thing for him.  He's still on the transplant list at Mayo and probably will be for a long time.  His overall quality of life seems to be doing alright, which is good.  So all in all, he's doing good for the moment and I'm happy about that.  He scheduled for a banding of his varices in June, so we'll see how that goes.  But I just wanted to pop in, give a quick update and see how everyone is doing.  I continue to keep everyone on the forum in my daily prayers.  I've been really busy at work lately and have not had the time to check in on the forum. I'll be back in touch soon....

Hello Shel, So glad that your husband is doing well. I wonder if having liver disease can cause diabetes. They kept checking my husband for it. He hasn't got it yet. You must have been very scared with the bleeding varices. My husband so far hasn't got them though he has been banded twice. It's amazing the things that they can do now days. Who would have thunk? I hope that your husband's wait isn't as long as you think. It sure would be great for another healingwell family member to get a transplant soon.

Hi Trish, congrats on becoming a homeowner, that will be real exciting for you both. Sometimes it's best to keep busy doing other things to get our minds off of our real problems that we face with our husbands. Moving into a new house will feel like you're off to a new start. Hi Teresa, the doc did mention that folks with ESLD do sometimes become diabetic. My husband takes both the oral medication and insulin shots. He's doing a little better with his diet. I'm hoping to do better with my diet and lose some of the weight Ive picked up. So maybe it's a good thing in a wierd sort of way so we can maintain a healthy diet.
