Is anyone taking Chlordiazepoxide? Did this help with IBS symptoms? My doctor put me on this today as the metoclopramide and the previous drug dicyclomine was not working for me. Im on 5mg every 8 hours and since I had extreme gas pressure and headaches for the past few days he put me on a 24hr liquid diet? Any advice would be helpful. Thanks all.

Chlordiazepoxide is a benzodiazipene derivative, used for severe anxiety and alcohol withdrawal. There may be off-label uses for it that I'm not familiar with. It carries some risk of dependency, like all benzodiazipenes do. Do you suffer from anxiety? I am not sure what this will do for your guts...but I would be cautious and make sure you know why exactly your doctor prescribed this medication!

No I have never suffered from any Anxiety. I spoke to my doctor today and he said one of this drugs uses is to treat IBS? Im confused... but the only upside is after taking it for 4 days Im actually starting to feel a little better. I ate a normal meal today without any bloating or gas discomfort. Im not sure if its the pill or the strict food regimine Ive been on. I do have a activa yoghurt every morning and I guess thats supposed to be helpful after 2 weeks its supposed to regulate the digestive system. I did some reading on Chlordiaz and yeah it has dependency issues for long term use. I hope I dont need it for too long. Thanks for the info.

Hey, if something is working, see if it works longer. Give it a few days to see what happens. I haven't heard of it as IBS treatment before but maybe there's new info in the works that I just haven't heard about (always the most likely possibility)...keep us updated!
