I had a colonoscopy done on Thursday. Obviously with all the prep and bowel clearance... I have not had a bowel movement since the procedure and it is now Saturday evening.. Is this normal????

Yup! If you are like me and go all the time - enjoy it! And if not, don't worry.

I take it you must be not from the US, it's Saturday morning where I sit and type. I would think you'd have a bm soon.

As mentioned, yes, it is quite normal to go several days without a BM after being scoped. Your body just flushed EVERYTHING out, and now it needs time to build up again. I think I went 5 days without pooping after my scope. I didn't pee for almost 24 hours later.

Totally normal.

No I am originally from the UK, but live in India... can you imagine someone in India being constipated??? It is now Sunday evening and no sign.... mad The problem is I went for the colonoscopy due to constipation and faecal impaction, so am rather anxious about things getting moving again!!! As you can imagine! Anyway, am eating loads more fibre and drinking 4 litres of water a day... it must come soon??? yeah Thanks for all your responses...

I am not sure that you should be taking more fiber than normal. I think one should try to get back to their normal routine. Fiber isn't alway the answer to constipation. It sure isn't for me. I would give it 4 days and then take a laxative. You may be getting too much bulk. You might try prune juice or prunes though they don't have much effect on me. If you start to get pains you definetly need to call the doctor and see what he recommends.

yes that is totally normal, I had the  same problem, they told me after 5 days of not going to take milk of magnesia. It works and gets everything back to normal again.

If you're normally a bit of a constipated person, then definitely being post-scope you should expect to not go for longer than normal...it literally cleans you out entirely. Even I (the Diarrhea Queen) didn't go for a day after my last scope, which is pretty much unheard of since I have 10-15 BMs a day! I hope things get moving for you soon. Keep up the water intake and take some walks and trust that eventually, things will start moving!
