rolleyes  I am sufering from an IBS attack with severe pain and cramping in my stomach. Taking the meds my Gastroligist gave me with little releif. I read something about pepermint oil helping some people. Well when i picked up th oil it said delute. Did not say how or with what. adoes anyone know anything about using peperment oil to releive IBS pain? On top of the IBS I am also a Chrons patient. Was diagnoced 8 yrsago and have had 1 resection because of the Chrons. about a yr ago had cevere stomach pain and constipation and was diagnoced with IBS. Double the trouble........lol...........the Chrons has been doing fairly well but the IBS is giving me alot of problems. Anyone with advise please help.

Your doc hasn't given you any antispasmodics?
I'm not sure how to dilute the peppermint, but I do know tea can work wonders.  Fresh mint tea and also fennel tea help me a great deal with pain and gas.  I once posted on here about what various teas do, I dug it up, here it is:

  • Chamomile (soothes the nerves)
  • Fennel (calms muscles, improves digestion, helps flatulance)
  • Mint (eases GI trouble, relaxant)
  • Lemon Grass (antispasmodic, anti-irritant)
  • Ginger (eases cramping & nausea)
  • Green (promotes digestion, overall health)

    Peppermint I hear is primarily for relieving gas.  I can't say how to dilute it though... Hopefully someone will come along who knows.  If not, try Googling it (I tried but didn't find anything good).

    My doctor has me on CHLORD/CLIDI 5-2.5 4 times a day, and since the flare put me on HYOSCYAMINE 0.125 a tablet I use every 4 hrs for discomfort, It desolves on my tongue. But these thing are not working like I hoped. Still having cramping. I am now on a liquid diet  as of yesterday and drinking Magnesium Citrate one bottle yesterday and one today, getting me going but still hurting. Thanks about the teas, I will try them.
