first thing i would do is take a couple of anti inflamatories like ibuprofen, after a meal. But the pain i used to describe to the docs was like a belt all the way round, i felt like you too, have you noticed if food triggers the pain??? you could possibly start a pain, bm, and food diary. then if you find a pattern with a certain type of food etc... stay away from it and see if that helps. Suggest that to your doc and see if he agrees. Sometimes when id get really bad i'd go on the floor, on to my knees, curl up and stretch my arms out, that sometimes works, especially if it is trapped gas.
