Has anyone tried Amitiza yet?

  Ok so things have been going great while off the Colon Cleanse.....until I attempted to eat real food again.  eating fish didnt effect me to bad but the red meat on wednesday and the 1/2 an italian bratwurst on Friday made me feel really sick over the weekend.  My tummy instantly went back to the "I am having twins!" stage and was extremely uncomfortable.  I began to throw up again and couldnt go to the bathroom (my husband thinks this is because i was throwing up so much there wasnt anything left to digest).  So instead of waiting -- I took 2 correctol tabs and was back to normal the next day. 

  I am also due to get the depo prevera shot but my DR wants me to wait and see if I feel a difference without it.  If I get the shot again while normal and go back to being sick then I know its the depo. (SO NOT SO THANKFULLY I have also now gotten a very heavy period with the bloating and cramps, back ache, head ache, etc).  Actually though - It is NOTHING compared to what not being able to go to the bathroom makes your body feel like.

  For the most part I feel normal with a period again.  I can take that.

lupetta, Thank you for your kind words and your support.  It means more to me than I can say.  I have not been able to find Dual Action Colon Cleanse. I bought another product called Colon Cleanser (or close to that) But I notice that it also has the warning it may cause choaking and tightness of breath.  What is in these things?  It is the same warning that scared me away from trying Amitiza. 

I've had a prescription for Miralax.  I eat fiber fiber fiber, and yogurt for probiotics. But nothing produces results except the senna laxatives.  The laxatives cause severe cramping and when they DO work, it may be uncontrollable ( like a two year old....yucky.)  Even with the horrible cramping, it is still better to be able to relieve myself than remain constipated.

I value everyone's input here so much.  I honestly believed I was fighting this battle all alone. 

I have this haunting worry that someday when I reach old age, 103 or something, I will be toddling through a nursing home begging the nurses in a creaky old voice, "Will somebody pleeeeease bring my my laxatives."  ha ha ha

 

Ok - here is my latest update...

   I have been off of Dual Action Cleanse I think about 3 weeks now.  Anytime I start feeling like I cant go to the bathroom, I take 2 Correctols.  This has been working fine.  I am looking forward to getting back onto the Dual Action Cleanse though.  I felt much better then. 

   Lupetta -- I have the same thing with the bloating.  All I have to do is eat food and my tummy swells.  It does NOT swell to the pregnancy size that we previously had though.  It just looks like a speed bump in comparison.

   I do have other health issues that may be complicating matters and will be heading back to the Drs office (my primary) today.  My primary wants to know if there is something that is causing all of my health problems instead of thinking of each one individually.

   I started with heart disease in 2004 - arrythmias, electrical blocks, slow heart rate and rapid heart rate, chest pain, and Mitral Valve Prolapse with Regurgitation.  Then in 2005 during my last pregnancy, my morning sickness turned into a FULL intolerance for any food or liquid.  I couldnt even drink water.

The only thing that helped that was Ensure for Mommies.  I lived on that for a month before I was able to start introducing foods again - Light foods -- ie. yogurt, oatmeal, water, salads, and fruit.  Thats it.

    Then in 2007, I started with pain in my right shoulder.  then weakness whenever I lifted my arm.  After almost 10 months of that I finally went to my DR (I didnt go before because I figured I was out of shape after the pregancy).  Eventually I had to have surgery on the shoulder in 2008.

   Here I am a year later and both shoulders are dislocating, having pain, and weakness again, AND my hips are extremely painful, AND my knees are popping out of joint!

   Add in the Migraines, stress, and everything else - just trying to live normal life and get through this digestion thing -- I am sick of it and want them to find out what is happening to me.  Treating each thing individually is not working (not as well as the Dual Action Cleanse).

    I will keep you all updated.  For now - I am doing Much better than I was before DAC.  doing DAC one month then one month off works for me - thats only 6 months out of the year that I have to take anything - AND its herbal.

  Works for me.

Lupetta I hope all is well with you and continues to be so.  Good luck on your month off (keep some correctol in the house!) and let us know how it goes.

Thistuesday -- buy the Dual Action Cleanse on ebay - its cheaper than the website by far.

You girls are awesome. (I assume you are all girls)  Thank you from the bottom of my heart and colon for all the time you have spent logging info onto this site. I have suffered with chronic severe constipation all my life, (since I was a teenager) but at 54 it has about got the best of me.  The only way I have been able to go for over a year is with laxitives or putting on gloves and facilitate my body or enema.  The pressure and bloating have been miserable.  But I rarely speak of it to anyone and just suffer in silence.  I am scheduled to go to GI doctor on Monday after my gynocologist gave me Amitiza for 2 weeks and it did nothing.  Now I am not sure I even want to go to GI Doctor.  I read your blog today and immediately went to Walgreens and found the Colon Cleanse in the vitamin section.  I have taken it and if it starts to work before my appointment on Monday I may cancel my appointment.  I hate to go through all those test and then they find nothing.  What would you do?

Hi all. I'm a 30-year old female with horrible constipation. If I go twice a week I'm lucky. People think I'm pregnant. My doctor just put me on Amitiza one week ago and so far-nothing. I don't have any side effects if I take the pills with a big meal, but the first day I go so dizzy I felt tipsy! Anyway, I was wondering-did everyone see results right away or did it take a while to start working? I go back to my doc in 3 weeks so I hope the pills start working before then. Any info would be appreciated-thanks everyone!

ThisTuesday --- How many of the Dual Action Cleanse capsules are you taking?  I had to go up to 2 twice a day for it to get things rolling.  It got easier as the month went on - I was also taking the Total Body Purifier and the Green Tea fat burner.  Are you taking all three?

I just finished my month OFF of Dual Action Cleanse.  I didnt go every day but I did go every other day.  I have not needed to start my second month of Dual Action Cleanse yet.  I do plan to start the second month so I can continue to lose weight. 

Remember - If taking one twice a day doesnt work - move up to two twice a day.  If that doesnt work, it says to go up to 3 twice a day to get things started.  But you are also to take the Total Body Purifier as well.  I also took the Green Tea so maybe that helped. 

Lupetta -- How are things going on your month off?  Did you do ok or did you need to continue?  Hope all is well!

Hello everybody!  I've been gone a month - sorry.  One of my dear old Greyhounds died and since I'm also going through a divorce rt now and living 2500 miles from where I had lived for 33 yrs...let's just say, I've been depressed.   I'M BACK NOW am wondering how everyone is doing.

 

thistuesday:  I hope the Dual Action Colon Cleanse kicks into gear for you very soon. I had a somewhat slow start on it, but it kicked me into gear w/in days and ended up changing my life. Don't be afraid to increase the dose as described in the literature.  I had to do that, esp at first.

 

babykatiebug:  I do still swell, but not like I did prior to Colon Cleanse. I have recently completed my month off and thought I'd be able to continue not using it for a while...until my dr. put me on Pristiq for depression yesterday...(I have been in a major depressive mode since last August, so...it was time to do something about it).  I was having a BM every day over the last month (a miracle in MY world!), but things are not moving well since I started on this drug for depression.  Apparently, one of the side effects can be constipation (the ONE thing I canNOT go back to).  Have you started on your next month yet or are you able to make it still w/o it??

 

I have added Activia (the yogurt - seems to help) and prune juice to my life. I'll do w/e I have to do to not go back to that terrible place I was in for almost a solid yr.  One BM every 11 days?...no one could possibly think THAT'S ok.  The pregnancy-looking abdominal swelling...well, you know.

 

The Dual Action Colon Cleanse saved my life - seriously, it seems like it.  The Activia basically gave me headaches and body aches (I already have fibromyalgia of 20+ yrs duration, so don't need THAT).  My plan rt now is to stay active, keep my weight down and use the Colon Cleanse when necessary - bc, for me, it does work.  (I'm starting to feel like a druggie here...)

The Activia doesn't upset my stomach, thankfully.  It actually helps.  Today things seem to be getting back ontrack.  I know what you mean about different meds...I have a shoulder and hip that give me probs - inflammation, and apparently the ligaments slip over the joints in those areas (??) causing a snapping sometimes...hmm. No one seems to know why. It's ok, I can and do walk and stay active bc the alternative isn't an option - and I have to take Meloxicam for the inflammation.  If I stop moving I'll never get up again.  Not happening!

 

Ok, not going for the Colon Cleanse rt now. (yay!)  Hoping things are fully back ontrack.

 

I suppose I'll be chemically altered for the rest of my life, but...whatever it takes!  Like most people, I'd prefer it be otherwise, but...I need help and most alternative medicines weren't doing anything for me.  Colon Cleanse is the exception - I'm such a supporter.  As for depression...enough already. HAD to do something.

 

Yes, I do garden!  I have a vegetable garden and a flower garden.  I also walk my 3 Greyhounds and I ride horses.  Some days are better than others.  Normally, moving about to a certain degree helps more than hinders.  It's the fibromyalgia - can't just sit around or things get worse.

babykatiebug: I wrote to you on Facebook about fibromyalgia. What's happening with you sounds to me like it may be something else altogether. Have they looked into lupus (another autoimmune prob) - or some tickborne illness?

I am so sorry you're having to deal with this inflammatory problem. I've had fibromyalgia for 30 yrs and have had some real down times, but no surgeries that came from it. Also, most people w/fibromyalgia do not have an elevated SED rate - a blood test that checks for internal inflammation. Mine has tested high for many, many years. No one knows why really, but it took years to finally diagnose fibromyalgia (the catch-all for "we don't really know what's wrong").

The Dual Action Colon Cleanse seemed to get me on-track as well. That still amazes me! I will never again take my lower digestive track for granted...IBS-C is miserable. I, also, keep the Colon Cleanse onhand. I hope others on hre have at least given that product a chance. My BMs were every 11 days...awful!!! It took a few days on Dual Action Colon Cleanse for it to kick in, but when it did...it changed my life for the better.

Hello to all who have posted items -- here is my story

 

I am a 59 year old who has struggled with IBS, food allergies, and  colon problems since I was 25 years old.  Used to keep things under control with diet and medication.  I  loved Zelnorm --- it always helped me and was VERY VERY SAD to see it taken off the market.  Whenever I needed help,  I just took the Zelnorm for a few days and I was back on track. 

 

Now,  I have my  30 year old living with me who has anxiety disorders.  His 37 year old girl friend and her 13 year old son have also moved in.   She seems to help my son, but her son has learning problems which I was trying to deal with, but lately I know I am stressed with some issues.   Also,  my 86 year old mother moved in with us 2 years ago and she has started to forget things, getting a small case of dimentia I suppose.  She has health problems which I deal with on a daily basis.  THEN we moved from  from  one state to another three years ago.  The husband stayed back to finish up work --- could never find him when I wanted him.   He finally moved here 6 months after I did.  AND  it was at that time I found out he was having an affair.   After trying to figure out what I wanted to do,  finally confronted him.  He said  she was a colleague and it meant nothing and it was over.  Two months ago I found out he was calling her again. 

 

SOOOO  in order to keep my IBS under wraps,  the doctors say you need to be stress free --- with the above, who can be stress free?????   NOT HARDLY AT THIS POINT !!   I  struggle to keep sane and keep my physical issues to a minimum.  BUT  along with the IBS  I  struggle with the food allergies.   I  had just heard about Amitiza and was given samples by my doctor.  She warned me that it was a strong medication but if I wanted to try,  she would go along with it.   I  then went on line to research the drug and it's side affects.  After reading everything  all of you have written  here,  I  have no desire to try it.

I   do have  Hyomax SR which sometimes relieves the bloating feeling,  but it never  helps relieve me.  I  too have the stomach distending problem and  my clothes are fitting way too tightly tight now. 

 

After reading  your success with the colon cleanse products I  am thinking I will try that instead of the Amitiza.  Anything to help the  problem at this point.   Usually I can get some relief but this week I  have not gone at all and I am miserable.

 

Thanks to all of you who have posted here.   It helps to know you aren't alone in the world with these problems.  I am sure I will be dealing with all of my health issues till the day I die,  but it helps to know you can vent to someone and get some feedback from people who understand what you are going through.  It is  too hard to explain to family members what you are feeling and  why  you are feeling that way.     I'll let you know what happens  next.

You definitely NEED some folks to talk with who aren't asking you for anything!  I agree with babykatiebug - get some of the stressors out of your world asap.

 

You can scroll back a short ways if you'd like to read MY story. I, too, am 59 and like so many others with digestive (and other) health issues, stress is in the mix. As a matter of fact, getting my own stressors under control is my greatest 'gift to self' and I intend to keep at it until I get it right - or die - whichever comes first!

 

My husband was having an affair...or two...last year and I have moved 2500 miles south of where we lived (in Canada) in order to start over.  At this pt in life, 'starting over' seemed esp scarey, but...I'm in the process of divorce now and after 8 months here (I am in northern MS) I am finally beginning to heal physically and emotionally.  My grown children and my friends (none of whom live here, unfortunately) have been the greatest source of strength and support for me over the last 10 months.

 

Besides over 25 years with fibromyalgia and all that goes w/that, I was diagnosed with IBS-C a little over a year ago.  My shape changed drastically and I was (and sometimes still am, to a lesser degree) miserable.  I tried Amitiza, but it gave me such horrible headaches - which I might have put up with had it worked for me (it didn't). The Dual Action Colon Cleanse was remarkable in that it actually got things moving.

 

Prior to the Colon Cleanse my bm's were every 11 days or so...awful!  After the first few days on Colon Cleanse my life was improving drastically in this area.  I had to take the higher dose of the Colon Clear Formula (part of the program) initially, but the lower dose ultimately.  After one month on this I started my 1 month off.  Things were great until I was put on Zoloft (depression...go figure!).  But, all is not lost!

 

After 6 weeks of no Colon Cleanse (didn't need it), then the start of Zoloft, I am back on a 30 day Colon Cleanse. It's worth it.  I also, of course, add more water, eat Activia (which seems to help me, also) and keep my environment as low stress as I possibly can.  The low-stress factor is the most huge component to success for me.

 

YOUR situation needs some tweeking. Seriously. You deserve to be happy and to have peace in your life. Your children ARE grown, your job with them is done. Your husband can mess his life up, but you don't need to go down with him.  Please, please be good to you. 

It is YOUR turn for some attention and care.

 

YOU have to take the first step - after that it'll get easier.  A support system is key.  I think the folks on here are a good start!  Other than us, please surround yourself with supportive people.  There is a better world out there than the one you're currently in.  I do not see how you can hope to improve until some of your stressors are physically removed. I hope you'll do that for yourself.

   I am praying that something will help you like it did for me and others.  I dont understand why even the highest dosage of the colon cleanse did not work - unless you took the stimulants at the same time - they might be interfering.  I am not sure.  I keep the Colon Cleanse here just in case I need it - but so far I still have not needed to start the second box.  Right now I am visiting the Dr for a new topic which may be related or not - I just cant see me having ALL these different problems and not have them related.  I have some type of arthritis thing right now that only pain meds and anti-inflammatories allow me to function.  I cant carry my 3 yr old upstairs to bed anymore because my knees will buckle.  I already need surgery on one.  Aside from the heart disease, gastric issues, arthritis, and other "symptoms", the gastric has been the worse -- so i hope you feel better soon - and listen to Lupetta -- DONT GIVE UP!  There has to be something out there that will help you get back to normal!  Have you tried probiotics? Or Lupetta's Activia? I have learned not to eat meat - or if I must - I eat a baby size portion.  If I dont follow this rule - I revert back to being sick.  Look at your diet and see if there is something that triggers it to be worse (?). Watch what you are eating and maybe switch to lighter foods for a while - like salads and yogurt.  I had to do that for while too.
