Constipation leading to very soft stools? Normal?

I am a 19 yr old female.

I have IBS-C. Sometimes I got 3 weeks w/out a BM.

I have been backed up lately, not completely, but I have only been able to pass very small soft stools.

My diet is terrible and I am going to try to get back on track.

I decided to take fiber sure 2 days ago. I took one dose the first day, and 2 doses the 2nd day.

Today I took none.

For lunch I ate A LOT. More than I ever have at one time I think. It resulted in a pretty bad stomach ache for an hour or 2.

about 3 hours after lunch I had the urge to use the restroom. I had one really long thin and soft bm. Then about an hour after that I had to go again. This time it was very soft, and it was sooooo much. I wouldn't call it full blown diarrhea but it was real soft.


Now my bottom is burning. I do not feel sick or anything. So do you think this is from being constipated? Or from eating too much? Or a virus?

Have you had other tests done, like colonoscopy, sbft, etc? If so, how long has it been? I'm not a dr and have no medical background so take what I say with a grain of salt but if I were in your shoes I would at least ask my GI/Dr. if it's possible I could have a bowel obstruction? It could be IBS or something else but whatever it is, if it's bothering you and if there's even the slightest chance it could be a bowel obstruction it's worth having checked out. Thats just my .02 worth.

You are lucky you went. Fiber if you are already constipated is never a good idea. It CAN make constipation worse, luckily with you it did not. The fiber just helps you stay regular after you've pooped well. See your doc about your burning. Good luck with all. Rosemary
