Hello, I am new here, glad to find this support group, I also have IBS according to 3GI docs who I have seen so far but I am still not satisified with the conclusion. I have even odd symptoms which made me a little skeptical about the diagnosis, Believe me, I totally understand how frusting it is. But one thing that I like to ask, have your hubby seen different doc for second opinion? Sound like that your hubby might just have food intolerance in general, of course, I am not a physican, I just wonder if low-residue diet will help. Rice soup with soluable fiber added?

Hi everyone,
I'm his wife. We are really hoping to find some solutions instead of just whining. There has to be something he can do. His troubles began with several severe bouts of something that we first thought was food poisoning. But the docs never really found anything clear. After several ER trips, hospital stays, countless tests, lots of fears, they ultimately labeled this I B S and sent him home with some meds that MIGHT work.
It's totally devastating, destroying most of our lives, and though he gets a few days of joy, this evil thing always comes back. I think it's gotten worse. But we have no solution.
There is no clear pattern. No obvious foods that bother him. No amount of testing has revealed a darned thing. A naturopath tested him for Food Allergies and Intolerances -- said he is not gluten intolerant. He avoids dairy, stays away from berries and nuts. He tried staying away from anything potato based, but it made no difference.
Where can we find a really good guide as to how to LIVE with IBS? AT this point, he can't work and he can't commit to much.
Ideas are welcome.
Thanks
