I know there are so many stories of how we suffer but sometimes i think it helps to hear good stories too.
I have been dating my boyfriend for a year and a half and i have known him for 3 years. When we first started dating my symptoms were in a lull (however they weren't nonexistent) and we would go out to eat often and take drives. about 8 months ago my symptoms started getting worse and about 3 months ago they were back to my full blown moderate/severe IBS. It disrupted the everyday things we would do and at first I didn't want to tell him because I was too embarrassed, but as we all know it is nearly impossible to hide the symptoms. After about a month of my symptoms coming back I finally told him and he took it in stride and was unbelievably supportive. Whenever i have a really bad day he always tries to help me; asking if he can do anything and encoraging me to relax (and staying out of the bathroom as much as possible ).
We recently moved in together and today I "caught" him looking up IBS recipies to make (he is the cook because I burn EVERYTHING). I was so overjoyed and excited that he was taking such an active role in my limited lifestyle.
I hope everyone has someone in their life who is as supportive as my boyfriend is (and my 2 best friends), and I want this to give everyone a little hope that there are very supportive people out there.
I hope you guys are doing well.
