Very scared & 1st colonoscopy tomorrow

Hi everyone.
My name is Neville, from South Africa
I am 34 years old, and have been having bowel issues for past 5 years (loose stool once or twice upon waking up, some bloating, incomplete evacuation and sometimes feeling like something is stuck in anus, discomfort on left side). I finally got enough courage to visit a GI specialist, and he scheduled a colonoscopy. His words were that 5 years ago they would not worry if you were under 50 years of age, but nowadays they have learned to be careful with anyone above 25 years old with these symptoms must go for colonoscopy. I am so scared of what they might find, my father-in-law passed away from colon cancer about 4 years ago, and it was terrible to witness his suffering. What concerns me most is the feeling of incomplete evacuation in the anus ...
I can just pray and try to get through the prep which I am starting in 1.5 hours.

Try not to worry until there is something to worry about. It may be nothing and you have to keep telling yourself that. Hang in there and I hope everything will turn out okay. Please come back and let us know what happens okay?

thank you i will let you know, this time tomorrow i will know the results, for now i am just about to have my 4th sachet of PicoPrep, and my anus is burning from all the "activity", even though i have only used babywipes, and no toilet paper :-)

If in the event you have to have another scope, what really helps the tush is witch hazel on the wet wipes/or some form of disposable pad or Tucks pads (if you have them in S. Africa). :)

I have been sent 2 sachets 16.1g of PICOLAX for my colocoscopy next month, I am wondering if this will be enough being that you seem to have had 4 sachets, depends on the strength of both I would imagine.

I believe that it's nice to know either way. It will rid you of the worries of 'what if this, what if that'...you'll know and can go on and deal with whatever happens. Let us know, everything will be fine, you'll be fine!

so i went for the colonoscopy and gastoscopy ... all is FINE. I suffer from IBS, and the reflux is due a very minor tear (or something like that) in the stomach, something not needing fixing. so THANKS to all of you for all your advice and comfort, i do appreciate it. After 5 years I can finally stop worrying. I am going to become a "informal marketer" for CANSA (Cancer Association of South Africa) and try to convince as many people as possible to go for colonoscopies. And all the best to all of you. In retrospect, after 2 sachets I was having clear stool already, so 2 was enough. I just drank the other 2 just to make sure i followed the doctor's prepping orders to the letter, but i do believe it was not necessary for more than 2
