I just had a scope with biopsies yesterday. It takes 3-5 days for results to get back to the doctor. I was told I would get a call about the results when they came in.
I wouldn't worry too much about a red spot. There are all sorts of things it could be, too many to even learn about until you've heard from the doctor, and most of them aren't awful.
My distal (far) esophagus is a tiny bit red, from the pictures I was given, but that could be from taking Advil for pain elsewhere. I don't expect to hear that I have Barrett's. The biopsy from the entrance to the small intestine, the other usual place they check, probably won't show celiac, because I don't have a problem eating bread. I expect to hear that I'm fine.
Didn't someone, doctor or nurse, tell you anything right after the procedure? My doc didn't hang around to talk to me, but the nurse read me what he saw, which wasn't much. Usually docs schedule you to come in within a couple of weeks for a followup visit.
Not much can be seen from the inside, but it's the only way to check the tissues. The barium swallow shows lots more accurately where the stomach actually is in relation to the diaphragm - whether you have a hiatal hernia or not.
