I wish I could meet someone around my age off of here in person

Hi everyone it's been awhile!!!,hope you all are well and blessed!!! I was just thinking how I wish I was able to meet someone around my age dealing with the same problems I have relating to IBS.I've mentioned this many times I feel so alone in this fight I know if I had someone around my age that I can relate to I would be able to get support and give it back.Just one person I know would make a big difference in my life,just to be able to make a new friend that will understand everything I've been through and going through currently.Where it would not be so hard to live this life with this God forsaken disorder!!!! Where we would help each other to go out together somewhere and have fun.For example to the movies it's been year!!!,since I've been to the movies!!!!!.I just have so much fear that I wont be able to sit through the whole till the end without having a stomach issue afraid to use a public bathroom more then once.I pray to God to please let this person enter into my life or I be able to meet someone or find a support group.I'm going to follow through with my wish so if there is anyone in the Boston Metro area between the ages of 29-32yrs old male or female please feel free to try to get in contact with me if the moderators would allow that.I am a real nice guy to get to know just wanting to relate to someone else where I wont feel so alone living with IBS,I know I'm not the only one living with this meaning this site but I wish I could meet just one other person dealing with the same problems.Where we can start to be each others support confidant crouch someone to call up and just talk to if were having a bad stomach but not talk about the bad stomach day but other things to get our minds off of the bad day we just went through.I hope I'm not coming off desperate that's the last thing I want to do!!!!! Just hope that my prayers will come true and it wont feel so lonely anymore in this fight.Will be looking forward to hearing back from someone I hope,till then wishing you the best of stomach and digestive health and and joy and peace concerning your problems wishing you all the best take care and God bless!!!! smilewinkgrin

When I was first recovering from my surgeries and experiencing the severe IBS like symptoms I have now, my surgeon recommended I join a local, in person colitis support group. It was the closest thing to a medical support group with my symptoms. I did subscribe to their newsletter and talk on the phone a few times with the director (very nice man). At the time I was a mess, and ideally yes I needed a support group but I couldn't imagine feeling well to attend a meeting.

You could try that jt, see if there are any bowel disorder support groups in your area. Start there and even if you don't continue going to meetings, you may meet a few members close to your age and maybe you could all meet on your own or just email eachother or call each other for support/pep talks.

My surgeon at one time told me I should have started a support group. That sounded like such a task that I passed on that idea!

Hi there, I am new to the boards... are there a lot of young people on here? I am 25, I do not live in Boston but just wanted to say hi and let you know there is another younger person out here! I have some other issues that is not as common in younger people and I have been trying to find someone who is my age and also has my issues. In addition to IBS, I have Barrett's, GERD, and Intestinal Metaplasia. Even my doc only knows one other person who is young and has this :/

I am 23 years old and have IBS and had it since i was in high school. I have had my gallbladder and appendix removed also. I have lots of other problems too not relating to this like seizures and headaches. In the past two years I have been to 1 move and thats because I HAD to go see twilight and i missed harry potter because I was having brain surgery lol so ya being sick totally cramps you social life :-) you could also check facebook for a support group. I have lots of people on there that i talk to all over the country and word! since i cant really get out and about facebook is pretty much my social life and i have tons of fun getting to know lots of new people!
