Okay, I am at my wits end. I would like advice on what to do. I have no health insurance and for the past 7 years ive been getting what I thought was just terrible upset stomachs. Well in the past year alone its gotten pretty severe. I have intense diahrrea and abdominal pain almost all of the time. The only time i don't seem affected is when I don't eat which is becoming more often. I do not know whether I should just suck it up and go to the ER, but I know I can't keep living like this much longer. PLEASE HELP

Instead of the ER, can you go to a clinic and pay to see a general practitioner? You're probably going to need some blood tests/stool tests/scope. That's not cheap, but it's a good investment to get your health back.

I agree with kazbern. I would suggest going to your GP instead of the ER. The care that your GP provides is probably more sound than the care the ER would offer. Also, be prepared for some tests. They are uncomfortable, but you they are necessary in finding your problems.

Thank you so much. However not long after posting this I went to the ER. Glad I did because I was hypokalemic. I now have an appointment scheduled with a GI doctor that is going to be reasonable with the fact I am paying out of pocket. You were right the tests were uncomfortable and I am sure he will probably want to do a scope. So far I have been told by the ER doctors that they suspect Crohns or Ulcerative Collitis

You may also go to your local Red Cross chapter... they will direct you to the appropriate social services office which may offer information to get the treatment you need at a reduced cost. It's worth the phone call or visit.
