Hi, my name is Corryn and I'm 13. I've been having/still have a lot of pain whenever I go to the bathroom (but found out it was just a hemorrhoid). But that's not the problem. For about
a year now I've been having rumblings in my stomach that my doctor said was gas. So I went to a GI and found no answers because that's just how my body is, never can find any answers. I recently put in a stool sample but when I went to the doctor a few weeks ago, she said that I should really get a
colonoscopy done. For some reason though they also want to add in an
endoscopy.
I'm really afraid of what's going to happen! I know that I'm going to hate the preparation (you know, not being able to eat anything and having to drink laxatives and all the fun stuff). Plus I'm 13! I feel like such a grandma having all these stupid problems that actually my grandma has... it really makes me upset... But anyway, I didn't come here to rant about
how I sometimes really dislike my life. What I'm really afraid of is what's going to happen during the procedure. I've read other people's stories and saw that sometimes the sedatives didn't actually put them to sleep all the way and they end up feeling everything that's going on and choke and gag when it comes to the
endoscopy. I just want to be asleep when all of this happens and forget everything that happens!
So do any of you have stories of
good colonoscopies/endoscopies... I'm mostly worried about
the endoscopy and gagging and all that, plus I don't like to think of things going down my throat. But now that I think about
it, having something being stuck up your butt doesn't sound much fun either. Ugh! Why couldn't I be healthy like a normal teenager!
Anyway... I might as well say that I'm a girl in case you couldn't tell from my name, not that it means anything. But all of your responses are very much appreciated... Maybe you can help me prepare for these tests. Oh right! The tests are to be performed on Thursday, September 13th so it's coming up next week!
Well I really should stop typing right now so yeah... bye!
Sincerely,
Corryn <3
