I made a topic in the UC forum but i'm not getting the answers I need.
I have UC and IBS and i feel that my UC is under control since my bleeding has stopped and my stool is becoming better and better each day.
However I am having incontinence issues and maybe you guys will suggest something here?
Maybe some anti spasmotic meds?
Will take any suggestions thanks :)

Have you talked to your dr recently about this? Are you finding that you can't get to the bathroom in time or do you go in your drawers with no warning?

Can you give a little more detail please?

I have talked to my doctor about this recently but he isn't quite sure how to help besides the imodium suggestion.
Heres the best way i can describe it when i have the urgency to go to the bathroom I feel like i only have a minute to get to the bathroom or i will get this really horrible pain in my rectum which unless i let the stool go it will just continue getting worse so it usually ends up being released. I can't make the stool go back up unless i will get this unbearable pain and it will just end up releasing itself.
I wear disposables where i go because its just so embarassing for me and i dont know how to control it.
I had to go renew my passport today and that didn't work out well for me because of this..
Please help me :( i'm only 17 and this is just too much for me.
I barely leave my house anymore because of this

It looks like you've been thru the mill with UC meds but can you tell me more about your experience with rectal meds? The symptoms you are experiencing sound more UC related than IBS. Have you noticed a correlation to the foods you eat and these symptoms? Perhaps increasing your fiber can help with this as well as altering your diet.

Rowasa was used for me when i was first diagnosed and only needed to use it when it was necessary since I got out of my flare very quickly.
Hydrocortisone enemas worked for a few months but then i got into a flare in november ( the current one i'm in) and i couldn't retain them anymore
Canasa Was used before the hydrocortisone and it did help for about 2 weeks. Tried them again this year and caused symptoms to get worse (cant tolerate mesalamine anymore)
Cortifoam would not help me either (switched from hydrocortisone to cortifoam)
Also tried hydrocortisone suppositories
Fiber makes me go more often and i am not considering it at all which is why im here

Hi colitis. Sorry to hear your going through this and sorry you weren't getting very much answers, hopefully that will change. As for the medication sulfasalazine has helped alot with incontinence. I was having to wear pads all the time for the lil bit of discharge that came. Now almost never have to. Also I take librax which helps with the spasms and calming of the gut, in the past i've used bentyl which also helps, as well as belladonna. All three of the last medications help with the spasms of IBS, i too have IBD and it's terrible feeling i know to have one under control but not the other. I do hope you start getting relief and some hopeful posts. Your not alone in this.
