Hi!
First off, I am new here, so please be patient with me. I just want to express how frustrated I am and apologize in advance if what I am about to say is TMI - although I assume not, as other people have similar symptoms.
I am a 21 year old female who has been dealing with RUQ pain, specifically under ribs, (has lately been radiating to back, in kidney area) and loose stools/diarrhea for the last 5-6 months. When I do have a BM, regardless if it is normal, loose, etc., the water in the toilet is usually (99% of the time) yellow, I assume bile. Over the course of the last 4-5 months, I have had a colonoscopy, EGD, CT of abdomen, barium xray, ultrasound, ultrasound of ovaries, CBC, and stool samples done, all of which have come back within normal limits. I had a HIDA scan done about 2 weeks ago, and came back that my ejection fraction was 87%. I know this number is higher than normal - at least from what I have learned and been told. Next, my DR wants to do a capsule endoscopy and pending results of that, refer me to a surgeon about my gallbladder.
I'm a college student and I don't have the BEST of diets, but I try to eat relatively healthy. I don't eat a lot of red meat or pork, and tend to eat veggies over chips or snack foods. I do notice that I am irritated after eating greasy or fried foods, but sometimes even oatmeal with leave me in excruciating pain. Sometimes the pain has a quick onset, other times it takes awhile. Earlier the pain had not been waking me up, but recently it has woken me a few times when it radiates to my back. I have also noticed that within 10-20 minutes of eating, I NEED to be in the bathroom. I seem to have a pretty recurring problem with acid reflux as well.
I have been prescribed Questran and Bentyl (neither worked, no longer taking) and added extra fiber supplements to my diet, but neither helped the pain or yellowing of stools. I really appreciate my DR working so hard with me, but I'm so frustrated that 5-6 months later, we're basically back at square one. Does anyone have similar symptoms to this? Is this common for IBS? Does it sound more like gallbladder problems? I'd really appreciate supportive input!
