Constipation with soft stool ???

Hello everybody, I have been suffering with constipation for the last 3 months after nearly 4 years of loose stools especially when anxious. This constipation is so bad. I had been taking lactalose which gave me awful pain and really bad wind. So I was switched to fybogel, this seemed to do the trick for a week or 2. My main issue now is that I cannot go but my stool (the small bits that do come out) are soft. I feel blocked up and yucky. Cramping on and off but not very severe. Went back to doc who told me take 2 senocot tonight and see what happens. He didn't even feel my stomach, I could be bursting open. Waiting till my husband comes home from work to take it (just in case). I just feel so awful at the moment so I found this forum and here I am... My anxiety is through the roof. I have GAD but have been doing CBT since before xmas and have had great results till now! I have never experienced any thing like this, it's like my bowel has stopped working. I have been called for an endoscopy and colonoscopy on the 20th. Any friendly words of advice or comforting words will be appreciated

I had the same symptoms as you had for years.

So first up I'd be looking to get a Comprehensive Digestive Stool Analysis (CDSA) Test done. I got mine done through a large pathology lab but the test was instigated by a naturopath.

What you'e looking for is something like this:

Thanks for replys. I will look into to that coastalchris. Did you find and answer and more importantly help with this. As for enemas Jeff9 I was given one yesterday in hospital and nothing happened. They did x-rays and have told me i am constipated (wow) but up really high nothing low down in rectum . If I haven't gone by Monday I have to go in to a& e again. This is beyond a joke now. I have enough laxatives in me to blow an elephant and nothing only water coming out. I have never felt this bad and to top it all off my anxiety has gone out of control again. I really feel that I have just stopped working.

That's so terrible what you're going through...I can sympathize as I have a very similar (if not the same) problem with the location of the stool getting "stuck". It's quite a ridiculous nature how many doctors view this problem (have more water, have more fiber), it doesn't aid in anything but more pain (at least for me). I remember I was speaking to a friend of mine whose mother suffered from ibs-c for years (she still does but to a lesser degree)...this may sound beyond dumb...but have you tried massaging your intestinal tract? Some people (from what I heard) have a stressed out GI tract and it is constantly tightened and not allowing things to move freely...once again yes it sounds silly but you never know. I wish there was something they could do for you and for everyone else including myself, surely enough people have this problem for a medicine or something, anything, to be brought into light to help. I was also reading some medical journals about idiopathic obstructions where there is damage to a nerve ending in the colon, and that's why things aren't emptying as they should....now I'm not entirely sure how one would go about being tested for that as such, or how that occurs, but that could be something to look into as well....I'm sorry you're going through this dear, hang in there.

Yep. I made my own fecal transplant capsules. You could try a fecal transplant enema if you are looking for similar results.
