Hi everyone!,
I'm a newby of about a month. I have multiple diagnosis - not involving the bowel - as I'm sure most of you do.
I have suffered from chronic diarrhea since at least my early teens.
I've been told it is IBS and been told it's not IBS. I've been tested for celiac, and have undergone at least 5 colonoscopies since my late teens. I just turned 50. I've had upper and lower GIs and many other procedures. I have a family history of chrohns and colitis on both sides of the family.
When I say chronic diarrhea I mean up at 2am going repeatedly, laying on the bathroom floor in between, till 5am, then going to work. going 25 times within one mornings time, despite immodium and antispasmodic meds.
Is this just bad IBS? I don't know. I have diverticulosis with multiple episodes of diverticulitis with perforation and colostomy...
Anyway - next week I'm having a "bacteria overgrowth" test. We will see. I've had C-diff 3 times only once from antibiotics.
Other tests I didn't know about include "fructose malabsorption" test, and of course lactose intolerance which can cause diahrrea. A woman w similar symptoms as me mentioned a diet she called FODMAP and if u google it, it comes up.
So I'm posting these as I've done so much research and never heard of these things- so I wanted to pass it on to you!
I hope it helps ☺️
