HI ....im usually on the anxiety forum , but I have a question for you guys if you dont mind ...

ok this is a little gross , but I need help ....so please excuse me and please dont be offended ...

the last two weeks when i go to the bathroom to move my vowels , i get this yellow mucus discharge

and even when i wipe myself its there yellow mucus , and today when i moved my bowels it was there

and a little blood in my bowels as well ..... i read that it could be ibs ...but where all of a sudden where

that come from ? .... i do suffer from severe anxiety .....uhhhhh its always something .....i was be calling

my gastro doc tomorrow ...

If you are passing mucous and blood you need to see your GI. This is probably not IBS.

If you have ongoing blood & mucus that is ulcerative colitis. If just diarrhea that ibs. I'd be surprised if this just came on out of the blue with no prior signs. Did you have antibiotics recently?
Just so you know---anxiety can cause short term diarrhea---but not blood & mucus-that would mean there is something else going on.

If you have mucus and blood in your stool, it is probably some kind of infection. It will need treatment from a doctor such a antibiotics. A doctor in GASTROENTEROLOGY should be able to tell you what you have and what you need to cure it. If I were you, I would see one as soon as you can get to one. It sounds from what you are telling me is very serious. Good luck.

Yes-----typically the symptom from IBS is diarrhea. If there is blood & mucus that is UC. An infection itself would not cause blood & mucus----but could cause diarrhea. If there is an infection it can aggravate an underlying condition though. Of course you need to see a doctor-and w/o question a gastro.

Hi all, you're right about the blood but an infection will cause mucus foo. Long term diarrhea and recurrence is also a symptom of C-Diff that is an infection caused directly from taking antibiotics. What happens is antibiotics kill the "good" bacteria along with the bad in your bowels thus depleting the immune system. I also had a little UC with the C-Diff and that is probably where my blood came from or visa versa where the c diff caused my UC. So indirectly the blood could have come from the infection. All of my symptoms disappeared after it was treated and tested negative. Either way, no doubt about it, have a GI doctor give you a stool lab to check for everything. What ever it is, I hope it will subside so good luck.
