IBS and heredity

I was wondering if IBS is hereditary?? i was looking on this forum and didnt seen any posts about it, but im new so maybe i didnt know where to look. Neither of my parents that i know had IBS, but thinking back i think my grandmother could have. And my daughter has it to, along with myself. Just curious i guess

Hi Pepper,
This topic has come up before and I think it was a consensus that IBS, and other GI ailments, are indeed hereditary. Sucks, huh?

WELL .. My grandmother had it (my fathers mother). My father nor my sister doesn't have it but I must have picked the lucky straw.. So I say YES to heredity.. good luck with it !!! T
