Who has diarrhea everyday??

I have been "dealing" with my daily diarrhea.  I have no clue why I have diarrhea everyday still, but I do.  the Colestid that I am on now has at leasat cut down the number of times from 5-8 times a day to 1-2. 

 

The Dr.'s say I have IBS-D.  All of my tests are normal...except for a finding of GERD (acid reflux). 

 

Does anybody else on here have diarrhea everyday, especially in the morning right when you wake up?  Maybe I'm not so alone!  If you can share your stories, I'd be thankful and maybe I won't feel so alone. 

 

If you have had this experience before, does it ever go away or could I be like this forever.

I have diarrhea every day.  Watery, crazy diarrhea a lot of the time.  It took me two years to get from going up to 20 times a day to below 5.  Lots of trial and error, and sometimes I still have my 10+ days.  They still have no clue what's wrong, but I don't really care anymore as long as I don't crap my pants.  Yes, I'm a little jaded...but can't let it ruin my life.  My advice is: take the 1-2 times a day and run with it!  That's great that the Colestid is working so well.  You may need to try other med avenues, but if something works, rejoice! 

It takes some time getting used to it, that much I know.  I know how frustrating it is, and believe me when I tell you that your docs are probably frustrated too.  I used to think my doc was just being a stupidhead but now I know he just doesn't know what to do with such a refractory (i.e., not responding to treatment) case.

I had it every morning just like you, and thereafter had a kind of feeling that it is not done yet and the need to go for 2nd round usually set in about 2hrs after the 1st.

Are you having the same kind of routine as well?

Hey there gang,

I have had diarrhea now for 4 years , everyday, sometimes as many as 12-15 times per day and well after every test known to man, colonscopies,endoscopes, push enteroscopes,barium follow thru,which took 7 hrs...aarrgg,,,,cat scans,xrays, and the famous capsule endoscope, they came up with, IBS-D, yep diarrhea is my worst enemy, man I would love to have a great big normal poop...the Cholestymine that I drink now gives me "rabbit buttons" and well I guess they are kind of normal, except I have a recatl prolapse so they are mighty hard to get out...I pray every day that I just poop like normal people.......

I am JUST like that!  Did anything work for you?  I'd do anything to be "normal" again.  I go every morning when I wake up and then it may hit me 1 to 2 hours after that. 

Any suggestions???  How long did this last for you and how did you find relief??

I have D everyday as well and have it it for 10 or more years.  Once a month I might have a normal movement, but then followed by D.  You just have to keep trying to find what works for you.  I take Lomotil and Imodium daily and never eat until I am home for good for the day around 4:00.   The older I get (I'm 50) the harder it is to do that, but what other choices do we have.  Good luck.

I have D anywhere from 2-6 times a day. I can live with that but it's the cramps, gas and bloating that really drive me nuts. I've had this for 2 months now, but am no stranger to D with having ulcetive colitis since 1986. Fiber just seems to make it worse too. How do you guys deal with it all. BARB

Can't really recall when it started but I think it is at least for the past 6-7months it has been this way. Ironically for the past 1 week it seems to die down a bit...touch wood!

I did nothing it just when away or even if it didn't I will just live with it and I think both of us should be consider the fortunate ones as some of the IBSers had it up to 20times a day.

Hi Shelly,

Wanted to add... how's the appearance of your poop as in shape and colour? For me it is just loose (not watery)and brown.

Also do you get gurgling noise from your stomach and feels like wanted to Bm but ended up like a false alarm??

Thanks for getting back with me.  I still have the diarrhea / loose stools everyday. 

 

Since I am used to "talking about poop", I don't mind answering your question and describibg what it looks like since I have described it to about 4 doctors now and still, nothing has worked for it.

 

First of all, there is nothing normal about it...it's more like I poop "piles" if you can relate...kind of like oatmal (grose).  I've also had a mucus problem through this whole mess.  It will soon be 6 months straight now that I have had this everyday and have had to live with it.  I've lost weight because it made me afraid to eat anything and my hair is falling out because of the loss of appetite from the abnormal BM's.

 

The doctors say that they can't find anything signifigant that could be causing this.  I've had TONS of teses too.  (Negative for celiac and crohns also.)

 

It always hits me about 5-10 minutes after I wake up too.

 

Can you relate to any of this??

That is exactly how my poop looks like and your routine also similar to mine. I had lose weight (10pounds)but I gained them back soon when I realized i wasn't suffering from any fatal/chronic illness, which I thought i was and this had really cause me alot of anxiety and lose interest in eating. You can see all this is inter-related.

All I can say don't let this situation put you down (i did not let it take over me). Look on the bright side as it could be more worst if it is some kind of Chronic illness.

OK, since we're talkin' poop details, I will add that you guys have described mine perfectly and also have the similar routine. Although seem to be improving of late after 7 months of this. Sadly, I did let the situation take over my life and am currently in therapy and looking to get my life back soon.

You can do it Sami. I have found with all my health problems which are many that you can't dwell on them and it is best to keep busy. Not to say that I haven't had my moments of (It sucks to be me). Last night I tossed and turned for an hour my stomach hurt so bad so I am still having problems but I try my best to ignore them because I am too busy to dwell on it and refuse to let it ruin my life. I go anywhere from 1x to 10 x a day. It is 95% of the time D. It all started for me about 14 years ago. The Dr's have run all the tests and the first Doc told me IBS the second Doc just recently told me Eosinophilic Colitis. but still not sure what that is. not many websites about it. I basically do not go anywhere other then to work and home. Work is a constant battle because I have an hour commute each way. Let me tell you sometimes...alot of the time....ok. all the time.....I break the speed limit just to make it home.

Can't they give you anything for it with all the stuff they have now days. The Chloridiazepoxide/clidinium caps really help with cramps and slow things down. Then Lomotil works well for me when it is really bad. I also take a herbal blend called optimal digest that is really awesome. My sister basically had no life until she started taking the optimal digest. She actually carried a port a potti in the back of her car. That's all she takes now along with a fiber shake each day. She had severe diarhhea. Hope this helps you out some. Barb

Hi Pandacrazy, I was actually on Chloridiazepoxide/Clidiniom and it seemed to help (some) for about 6-8 months and then it didn't help anymore. I stopped taking it the beginning of July. The Dr just gave me a prescription for Asacol yesterday. I have not started taking it yet. I have not tried the Lomotil.

I know it doesn't work quite as well as it used to for me. I took Asacal for many years for active ulcertive colitis. My doc did want to put me back on that but because I am having such heart burn problems I refused that. I was up last night for 3 hours straight with such awful stomach pain. I finaly fell back to sleep with a heating pad on my stomach. I didn't have diarrhea this morning for once but it helped the pain to go to the bathroom. I wish they would figure something out to do about this because I can't come into work on 4 hours of sleep everyday. I think it was something I ate. So will only be eating soy yogurt today. I'm alergic to cows milk. I would try the asacol though. It might really help. Barb

I am not sure of the Asacol.  I have heard horror stories about it.  I have heard that it causes worse D.  I am so afraid to try it, I have enough D that I really cain't deal with any more.  For the past couple of months I have been real bad....I don't know what to do.

I did really well on the Asacol when I took it for ulcertive colitis. It made my diarrhea go away and the cramping. My problem is everything I take seems to give me heartburn. That's why I am afraid to take it again. I found out today that it maybe my new med for asthma singulair causeing some of the heartburn. It can't hurt to try asacol. I took my chlordioxepide/clidium caps and gas-x in the hopes of escaping that horrible pain tonight. I am ehausted and had cramps all day. I just thought of something else you might want to try. You could ask your doc about Elavil. It is a antidepressent that has the side effect of constipation and it helps with pain. I never got constipated from it though. I had taken it for fibromyalgia. It also helps you sleep. If they can't come up with something better to help me I may consider taking that again. I took 50mg pills which is a low dose. You can also start out with 25mg. It will make you real tired at first until you get used to it. Barb

     Hi, I have diarrhea Everyday!!!!!!!!!! Sometimes can't even make it to the bathroom.( NO CRAMPS OR ANY WARNING) It has been going on for 15 years now and of course gotten much worse! I think every DR. I have seen thinks I'm crazy and has NO idea what I have. I have had every test and been on lots of different meds. I am a new member so any advice would be greatful. Thanks so much, KGB    P.S ( going to disney next week for three days, guess I won't be eating!!!!)

hi- have any of you been tested for c-dif?

i get this D EVERYTIME i take an AX for an infection it never fails. as soon as i take the flagly for it it goes away until the next time i have to take an aX...

this is no joke c-dif is a very bad thing to have.....another name for it i think i psuedo membrous colitis

i do not get the blood or tarry stools from it just plain ole D non stop which stinks to high heavens!!! that is how i know i have an infection b/c of the odor, it is not normal

I have diarrhea everyday as soon as I wake up...no matter what I eat. I know I'm also lactose intolerant so I stay away from full cream milk. I hate this.

Have you had a chance to look around the board yet? You will find some GREAT information for helping you control the D. Taking calcium will help. So will probiotics and fiber.
Have you been officially diagnosed with IBS?
Hope you stick with us and keep posting...

I had alot od diagrea for 10 yrs,but it really got bad in Nov.last year.I lost nearly 50 lbd.I had a Colonoscopy,IBS The Dr put me on Pamine Forte 5 mg.I've been fine since.
