Zelnorm?

It's my understanding that Zelnorm is only given to people who have constipation that does not respond to traditional laxatives. I was under the impression that Zelnorm was a very strong laxative. Which, I would think, would be bad for anyone who's not constipated.

But wait and see what you hear from people who have been on it.

Thanks for both of your input/help! I did take it today and it is upsetting my stomach but I've heard that it does that. I don't exactly have constipation but when I do have to go to the bathroom my body takes about 8-9 hours before I can actually go and there is a lot of cramping and bloating, if that makes sense. I go to the bathroom once a day but it takes longer than it should and I am up all night with bloating and pain. Sometimes it get IBS D and other days no.

So I'm trying it for a few days to see what happens since we already payed the $250 for it. My gastroenterologist is supposed to be in the top ten out there so I'm willing to try it but I have heard it should only be used with IBS C too. I really hope it gives me some relief at night though! I am so bloated in the morning and I start school next week so I need to some how change that!

Zelnorm cramped me up so bad and gave me such bad diahrea the first time Itook it so I cut it in half the second day. He only had me taking one a day as it was. The second day I was so dizzy I could not get out of bed for hours cause Icould not walk. I have some constipation but sure not enough to take that. It is too bad that you did not know that you can get some Zelnorm free from their website. Your Dr. has to write a prescription but they give you about 10 to try with no charge. In my case my Dr. gave me samples and I was sure glad he did. Just a heads up for everyone. If you get prescribed something and you can't get samples and have to pay out of pocket check the website for the drug. There are just oodles of free trial coupons for most drugs expecially new ones. Sleep drugs. You still have to have a seperate prescription for what ever the free trial calls for but better that than buying something you can't use. I know I drive my Dr. nuts with these things but it is my money and I have enough stuff around that didn't work or didn't agree with me. Usually he just gives me samples as I think he has an aversion to prescription pads.

Ya, I think it did help me with the bloating. It keeps things moving along, sort of like easing the pressure, so the bloat becomes less.

Sorry to say but I don't think you'd see any results for a couple weeks. When I started taking probiotics I was bloated and gassy for a good 7-10 days before it settled down. When I started taking Digestive Advantage I didn't see any results for about 10 days either.
Maybe you could load up on Gas-X (or the like) for your Wed event.

This is indeed a blessing to speak to others who are suffering from constipation.  When you mention the word, most folks turn their noses up.  Zelnorm is a miracle drug for me as I didn't go sometimes for one month, imagine the pain and bloating that was associated.  I would recommend Zelnorm to anyone who suffers from IBS.  I spent 10 years trying to find out what was wrong, my colonoscopies were normal and my doc couldn't figure anything out. He said we would try Zelnorm and see how it works and my God, it did and I've been on it since.  I hae also changed my diet since April when I was hospitalized for 6 days with severe symptoms.  This condition is not to be played with and if you have issues, please contact your doctor or Jesus and ask for some help.  I pray a lot and eat differently and have had minimal symptoms.  The ony time I have problems is when I don't eat enought fiber and I can't take OTC products, so I increase the fruit intake and that helps.
