Hi everyone,
I've had IBS-D for about 10 years. I've controlled it with calcium. I've never really had pain with it.......just other funky symptoms, like pressure, bloating, feeling like I had a small animal in my chest, etc.
But about 5 weeks ago, I started having a chronic ache just to the left of my stomach, about 2" under my left ribs. Since I HATE going to the doctor, and having awful GI tests, I'm trying to deal with this without going there first. I'm 57......so I'm sure my body is wearing out. But have some of you developed different pains here and there, throughout your IBS history, that just come and go, or come and stay, and they don't mean anything bad?
I sleep on my right side all the time, and was thinking maybe any gas just accumulates in one higher spot, and leads to the pain? Its on the left side, but I suppose it could be referred pain from my gall bladder. I have had more diarrhea recently.
It seems like any time I take antibiotics, my intestines get even worse. I had an antibiotic right before this pain started up, but I've been taking probiotics ever since, and it doesn't seem to change anything.
Do alot of you have pain that you just have to live with? Sorry to sound ignorant. I guess I've been lucky to have non-painful IBS.........but maybe my luck just ran out! Thanks!
