Greetings all,

     Well, I was informed yesterday that all my Hemmroisds must come out. I have one that bleeds very bad. To the point I have gotten anemic and my iron count which should be around 250 is down to 25 and my blood count is down to a 10. Not Good. Due to the anemia I have felt like crap for several months now. It seems about the time they would heal up and I would get to feeling better they would start bleeding again and back down my blood count would go.

    I will be very open and say I am scared to death of this surgery. In my life I have had sinus,back surgery and had a stent put in back in January. I would gladly go through any of that again before wanting to go through this one due to how painful I have heard it is. Even from the surgeon himself and his nurse! But I see no other way to getmyself back going 100% again other than surgery.

  If anyone has been through this and care's to share their experience or tips for before and after this surgery I would love to here from you. Good or bad!

  Also, I have heard that having them removed with laser is much easier on you but I can't find anyone around that performs the surgery with laser. I am in South Arkansas. In fact my surgeon told me that very few use this procedure any longer. Just curious if anyone else had it performed with laser and your results.

I don't have any experience with hemmroids however there is another post titled "Bleeding Hemmroids" from the stomache man that actually had the surgery that may be able to give you insight. No, I did ask him about this. This surgeon says as bad as mine are that removal is the best long term procedure for me.

Well, even though it may be painful, you should start feeling better fairly quickly as you start retaining more of your blood, so think of it as a trade-off. Painful poops and painful sitting, but at least you will be able to walk around and do some things now because you'll feel better.

LOL, Yeah that is about the only thing that is going to make me go in there and go through with it. Better day ahead I guess :-)

Yours do sound bad but are you sure about the laser not being done. My Dr. who is very up on things does something called a photocoagulation or something like that. Perhaps it would be wise to get a second opinion fast. Is this the first Dr. that you have been to. Apparantly something needs to be done fast and it may be the only way to do yours but I would call around some if you can. Maybe to the University gastro dept. Just a thought. Remember he is a surgeon whereas the other stuff can be done by a GI doctor. Yes, I have read it is tough after but going thru the other surgeries you have you may not find it as bad.

Thanks Crayonbabe711 No have not sought out a second opinion. Living in a rural area I am an 1 1/2 to 2 hrs from any major city with decent surgeons. Yes time is sorta crucial as I have put this off way to long hoping it would heal itself. I did have a nurse friend of mine in Little Rock call several surgeons there for me and non did the laser. I may try Shreveport tomorrow myself.

Here's a link about hemmies and other anal issues (with pics)...as most of you know I have crohns, so the second pic will show the type of perianal crohns skin tags I've been dealing with..mine are larger then what shows in this particular pic (pic is not of me just to clarify)...my skin tags were mistaken for hemmies and I had them banded while they were in a flare, causing them to remain in a flare ever since (the last 16 yrs).
