eyes  I am on prednisone for polmyalgia rheumatica. Hope it helps with my colitis too.

Has it helped anyone with their diarrhea?? I'm on 15 mg. prednisone, also fosamax with D and a prescription vitamin D too.

They use it for Crohn's, I think. I have never heard of it helping diahrea. Make sure you still take Calcium. Some people think they should not take calcium with Fosomax. Of course check with your Dr. Both Fosomax and Pred can be tought on your digestive system so don't take together. You MUST take the Pred with food and you MUST NOT take the Fosomax with food so that is reason to take them seperatly but I am amazed how many times people are not told to take the Pred with food, milk or something else to coat stomach.

I knew that about the fosamax (hate the fosamax and the nausea, supposed to change to Boniva) and the d vitamin. Really bad vitamin D tests results. Trying to space them all in the right time frame. If that doesn't work I will be on intravenous boniva.

Also take colestid 2 five gram packets a day and it must be taken a few hours after. I have taken it for over 20 years, that helps the colitis and diarreah. Many colonoscopies and different meds in the past. This PMR arthritis ties right in with the IBS. That is what the prednisone is for is the PMR. Even with food it is bad side effects.

Yes, it is a miracle drug but probably no drug has more side effects. I was offered the IV every 3 months but turned it down because of the possibility of jaw necrosis in that class of drugs. Also, I didn't like the endocrinologist. I don't know what I am going to do about my osteo but I know I have to do something since they did find a fracture of L4-L5 on CT scan even though I have not pain.

Pred is used for IBD, either crohns or ulcerative colitis, it does aid with D, it's not used specifically for IBS, it can have terrible/annoying short-term and long-term side effects.  It is used for other inflammatory diseases like asthma.
