has anyone had h-pylori?

I ran into my doctor today at a community fair and she told me she had been thinking about me and thought that maybe I didn't have ibs but I might have h-pylori. I have heard of people getting diagnosed with ibs but really having this and the treatment was worse than the disease. Anyone have any experience with this?

Helicobacter Pylori is thought to cause peptic ulcers along the stomach lining from my understanding... I was tested for it when I started having the pain. It takes but a simple blood antibody test to rule out H. Pylori, so you may as well get that done.

H-pylori is a stubborn little bug that uses its tenticles to swim from high acidic levels to lower acidic level zones in your stomach and then bores itself into your stomach lining causing ulcers.

I have been diagnosed multiple times with it. Everyone has it, its just some of us make it mad and it gets its revenge.

The treatments I know of consist of a 14 day onslaught of antibiotics, and stomach coating stuff (the main ingridiant in Pepto, I am drawing a blank, it starts with a B). Plus an anti-acid, or acid blocker.

I have two different treatments, a Prev-Pack, which consisted of Previcid, Amoxicillian, and Bismol pills. This made me really really sick, so we changed out the Previcid for Nexium and all went well.

However, my symptoms for H-pylori were extremely different from my IBS symtpoms. Its like having non-stop heartburn, or feeling like your stomach is on fire. My throat was on fire as well, and your gut burns too. So it simply feels like you drank some gasoline, and then swallowed a match :)


Be aware that the extreme amount of antibiotics will kill everything in your system, including your flora, so ask your Dr. about flora boosters to keep your good bugs thriving. Otherwise there is a chance you can develope IBS easily.

H. pylori is a bacterium that people ingest from drinking water. So it's unlikely that it's related to your gallbladder. You can, though, have both problems of course. You can feel abdominal pain with both conditions. Usually the H. pylori pain will be sort of substernal pain (just under your ribcage) and the gallbladder pain radiates from under the right ribcage to the back.

I was treated for H Pylori about 6 years ago with the Prev Pak. I was diagnosed after having a blood test taken for it. I remember that I started taking it at work and needed to go home due to having side effects from the medicine. It made me very ill.

Has anyone been diagnosed with H. Pylori with the symptoms of discomfort under the right rib cage (not a pain but a constant uncomfortable pressure)?

yes i have it right now and just started tretament, so i do have experience with it. its not thatbad where u cant stand it, but they put you on 8 pills a day for 2 weeks, then some people need to take another set of pills for an extra 3 weeks.

Hello everyone, I know someone who suffers from h.pylori and he is on Denol. I read that H.pylori can cause a peptic ulcer.H. pylori weakens the protective mucous coating of the stomach and duodenum, which allows acid to get through to the sensitive lining beneath. Both the acid and the bacteria irritate the lining and cause a sore, or ulcer.
What are the symptoms of an ulcer?

Abdominal discomfort is the most common symptom. This discomfort usually
* is a dull, gnawing ache
* comes and goes for several days or weeks
* occurs 2 to 3 hours after a meal
* occurs in the middle of the night (when the stomach is empty)
* is relieved by eating
* is relieved by antacid medications

* poor appetite
* bloating
* burping
* nausea
* vomiting

Hello, I am new to this site, so please bear with me if I should ask something already covered, or be in the wrong place.

When my daughter was in Middle School, we were told that she likely had h.pylori and was put on an antibiotic (this was determined by a blood test, I believe). As a freshman she had a bout of serious illness that was thought could possibly have been Cryptosperidium, but tests were inconclusive. She was again treated with antibiotics. Now, as a senior, 18 yrs old, she is suffering from chronic nausea. We have seen too many doctors, GI and Nuerology. We started by thinking this was casued by a fall from a horse and trama to the head, neck and R.shoulder. However, all tests thus far, including CT and MRI have been negative.

What I am checking on here is that I was told by a GI doctor that if you have had h.pylori in the past, the blood will always show a test that is positive. When they did blood work for this illness, we were told that her tests were negative for h.pylori and that she couldn't have had it the first time.

Have any of you ever heard of this?

It is true that if you have had an H. pylori infection in the past, you will continue to show antibodies to the bacteria in your blood for the rest of your life. This does NOT necessarily mean you have (or ever had) an active infection, just that you've been exposed to it at some point.

You say you did the antibiotics, do you mean the Prev-Pack or Nex-Pack? 14 days of like 4 pills a day? Thats what I have been through, four times in the past 7 years.

I have been diagnosed with IBS and Acid Reflux, which probably caused the IBS, but anyways. I am on 40MG of Pantoprazole (one pill when I wake up), which is a generic for Protonix. This worked extremely well for the Acid Reflux, without the side affects Nexium and Previcid left me. The first week sucked, a little stomach pain, but nothing killer. And I have been doing it for 7 months now. I am also on another script but I couldn't tell you what it is as the bottle is at home. Its a low dose antidepressant (10mg pills). I take 3.5 pills before going to bed. 3 pills works but not quite as well as 3.5, and four pills sends me running to bathroom a few times, so I keep at the 3.5. The main purpose is for the serotonin in it, my doctor believes I don't produce enough to stabilize the nerves in my stomach to handle digestion. Whatever...all I know is as long as I take these, and dont over eat at meals I am good to go 90% of the time. Still have nerves which bother me, stress sucks, makes me feel like running to the bathroom, plays hell on my marriage, she thinks I just dont like going places with her, which she is partially right because she wigs out and stresses me out before we even walk out the door.

I was labeled.. with H. pylori. I read what other people said about this nasty bacteria and I have to admit that I do not have all those symptoms; nothing else but hearburns (bad ones indeed). went quickly for an endoscopy, the doc took a biopsie and here it was.....I was given the prevac-pack (2 antibiotics and PPI), for 2 weeks....and for 2 weeks during my treatment I felt great...just great...could eat everything anytime...well the two weeks are over...so here I am....where I started: cannot eat anything without burning sensation in my stomach and my throat....I am so, so depressed....this means my H. pylori strain is a resistant one?

most of the people after the 2 weeks, were fine, good to go, they got rid of the thing....but not me noooooo.... so my question is: should i get worried?...it is possible that i won't get rid of it immediately?....maybe another antibiotic treatment?.....if anyone knows anything that can calm me down I will appreciate....I am trying to get pregnant...so this is not a good time for me. Hope it could be fixed.
