Whoa - I didn't think of this either. I've heard they spray salads on salad bars though. Back when there was a bagged spinach e-coli scare I vowed not to buy bagged salads.
But here of late, I've been buying them again.

I think I'm going back to making my own salads. I have heard you should wash each large piece of lettuce, front and back, if using Romaine for example. Then after cutting or tearing into pieces, wash again in a colander. A double washing. To be sure it's very clean.
Bagged salads - who knew!
And you know what one of the most simple salads for us is don't you - iceberg lettuce wedges! Sooooo easy to make.....drizzle any salad dressing you like on it. Of course I have a picky family so they think this isn't really a salad......hubby's into all these new fangled salads, baby greens with dried fruit, feta cheese and candied nuts. Ugh....
