That is excellent advice 7Lil.
angelik135 - if you know you experience both bloating and C right before your period each month, I would definitely pre-empt the symptoms by avoiding food and drinks that make the situation worse.
Many female members here have connected IBS symptoms to PMS/pre-cycle times of the month. I remember having this problem years and years ago, before I ever had rectal cancer, my colon resection. Thinking it was odd but the D never really put me in the bathroom for long and I could almost always tell when I was going to start, so I didn't have a mess on my hands. My doctor told me once it was nature's way of cleaning out the gut, before you started your period. Whatever it was, it happened on a regular basis (53 now and I'm just now beginning to skip periods). I could almost set my calendar to it!
Even though caffeine is a no-no, weak hot tea helped me back then, or you could try hot herbal tea, a heating pad, and avoiding foods that add gas to the GI tract.
