Pencil like stools

Finally after 2 Sitz Marker studies, I was cleared to take laxatives and try to have a BM again!

 

I took Milk of Gag, and used 2 enemas (per doctor) today. The little stool that I have coming out is all pencil shaped - long and thin.

 

Anyone had experience with this? I'll let the doctor know when I talk to him tomorrow, just curious if others knew anything about it.

It's common to have issues of pencil thin stools from having IBS, I'm not sure why this occurs but it's a common complaint.

1 theory is that the intestinal spasms are what cause the pencil like stool. It makes sense in my case, because it only happens to me when I'm cramping.

Hi Justk,

I have just signed up on this site because I was looking for ansews for what I have. Then I seen your email on here so wanted to reply to it and let you know that I have the same thing. It sucks!!!!

I have been told that I have I.B.S.. a few years back. So when I get this happening to me, which what is going on with you, I just think, well ok, I am having a i.b.s. Attack.. But i read somewhere that penicels size stools could also mean a sign of colen cancer. So Now I freak every time I have these penicels size stools. Which I have been having for about two weeks now.

Anyway you could be just having a i.b.s attack and need to eat allot of fiber to get it under control but you should make sure you get to your doctor and have him do a colen test on you to make sure noting is wrong.. I had one of those but need to go have another one. YIKES!!

Anyway I sure would like to know what you fined out about what is going on with you.. It would save me a trip to the dang doctors. (smile).
But please make sure you get checked out for I.b.S. and have a colen test done.

you should take a look at the Bristol stool chart...google it....

the stools you describe are a sign of constipation, something that happens a lot with people with IBS-C

sometimes no matter how careful you are with what you eat, or how good a mood you are in, it happens
