Hi. I am having my gallbladder removed on Monday and am extremely worried about having problems afterwards.  For the past few months I have had pain, nausea, bloating, constipation and diarhea.  they did the ultrasound and I have no gallstones.  They did the nuclear test and said it is working at 14%.  So here I am having to go and get it taken out.  Will this solve alll my problems or is it really just creating new ones??  And what can I really expect after surgery. It is just I am a single parent of 3 little ones and I have no help and I feel like this might hinder me alot....

I had my gallbladder removed 3 1/2 years ago. I do have some diarrhea problems that are controlled with meds. I have taken Questran in the past, but I now take Colestid once a day. I had to take it twice a day for the first 6 months or so. It has gotten better over time though. I am thinking of trying once every other day.
I don't regret the decision I made to have mine removed at all. Taking a pill every day sure beats the pain I had with my gallbladder. I'd do it again without hesitating.

angels; I had my gallbladder removed 6mo. after my son was born 29 years ago. I had the diarriah for about 7 years before I knew about questran. My brother had the same issues. So I asked the Dr. about questran and he said is was used for high cholestrol and wouldn't harm. What a relief. There are several other generic brands now. I no longer take it because I have the opposite problem. Good luck june
