Colonoscopy Prep question

I have to go through the prep tomorrow and this will be my first time so I was doing some research into the prep which I am not looking forward to. I found many different types of preps but didn't say any information on the type that my Dr has me doing. Per the instructions that I got I am supposed to take 4 Dulcolax tabs at 10am, 4 more Dulcolax at 4pm and then 4 more Dulcolax at 8pm. My only real concern is that on the back of the Dulcolax box it says that they are not to be used for Colon cleansing procedures and I could find nowhere else where someone talked about taking 12 Dulcolax pills in a 10 hour period. Should this still be ok or should I contact my Dr in the morning and question it?

It's been my experience that each and every doctor who orders a Colonoscopy and prescribes his bowel prep, believes that prep is the best one, currently used.

I've had nurses tell me doctors are always trying more thorough approaches so the walls of the colon are visible and the patient is completely cleaned out.

If you have questions, call your doctor's nurse. She'll confirm these instructions with you and then you can relax, to make certain this is what he/she wants you to use.

Now all of that said, we here are colonoscopy and bowel prep Vets. So we all have our favorites and not so favorites (of all the preps out there).

I'm not so sure you should be gathering the different preps/approaches and why this or that one is popular (in case you're so inclined to do so). It will only confuse you at this point.

Call your doctors' office but trust this is what he wants you to do.

That sounds about like what one of my friends had to do. It was a lot of pills over a long period of time and a lot of water. Your Doctors orders supercedes what the box says. He knows how he wants it done. That is for the consumer so that they don't do it on a regular basis I would think. Every Doctor has his favorite prep.

See there, that's my opinion as well canyonbabe. Every doctor does have his own prep preference.

Just curious how your prep and colonoscopy went. I was just visiting your post on this thread and thought I would ask, if you don't mind. I am going for mine on the 17th and still trying to decide what prep I am going to use.
