If your serious about making the most of life with a challenging condition and possibly getting beyond the condition itself, than then you'll find it helpful to try things. Especially if you do a little research and they seem to make sense.
Going gluten free for a short test period of 4 to 6 weeks is fairly easy and just may be what you need. With common sense and some guidance it is not dangerous in any way. So why not.
I was suspect for Celiac disease, and gluten intolerance. Blood tests and going gluten free for a while eliminated those as concerns. From what I learned, I moved towards other diets, supplements, exercise, etc, and after several months with guidance from a wonderful naturopath, I healed my innards to a point where I only experience IBS if I am reckless with my diet and/or life style.
So try what makes sense, under the guidance of a professional you trust, and I would be willing to bet you'll see big improvements. After more than 30 years of IBS and other digestive trouble I am moving into my second year of enjoying a healthy system. No surgery, no medication. Just a few supplements, and dietary, exercise and other lifestyle changes.
Good luck! and keep in touch.
