I've suffered from chronic constipation for years. I've had one surgery to repair a ectocele and endocele and then a second surgery to repair a second (separate) rectocele. You don't even wan to get me started on adhesion pain! My most recent issue is that the GI Dr wanted me to do Sitz Marker Study. Skipped Milk of Magnesia the night before taking capsule and didn't not take any laxative/suppository/enima/fiber for duration of study. Dr. only ordered 1 x-ray to be done the 5th day after taking capsule. My provider has secure website that allows patient to access test results. When I accessed the radiology report it did not mention the markers at all. They did a "KUB-AP ABDOMEN" and the results stated I had normal bowel gas patterns, which is good news, but that's not the question. I know markers were still present when the x-ray was done because I have passed some since the test. So did they do the wrong test? What x-ray is supposed to be done for sitz marker study to diagnose Pelvic Floor Dysfunction?

The sitzmarker test is done to study the function of your colon. It shows the dr if your colon is working properly and if not what part of your colon is not working properly. They can tell by where the markers are and how many are there. If there are many in one spot, that is where there may be a problem with the function of your colon.

I would ask your dr about the results of the tests and to show you where the markers were throughout your colon on the 5th day.
