Anybody take librax for IBS?

Does anybody take librax for IBS? Can you take it every day? Is it addicting? I noticed that xanax or loritab really help the spasms but I don't want to take them b/c they are both very addicting. The other meds like symax, donnatal, bentyl etc...... are so drying, I can't stand them on a daily basis. I take zoloft and it helps a lot but need something to work fast on bad days.

I used to take it when I first started having problems in '98. I don't take it anymore because it never did me much good but it might be the wonder drug for you. I never felt like it was in any way addictive.

I take it in extreme cases when the Bentyl doesn't work. But I have to take it at night before bed because it knocks me out.

I tried it but I can not take it. It made it so I could not swallow very good. I dried out my mouth so bad. It gave me the worst constipation. I would have rather had Diarhhea then constipation. After a week of taking it I called the Dr and told him my symptoms and he told me to stop taking it.

I have taken anti spasmodic slike bentyl but they dry me out real bad too and don't work fast enough. The best thing for fast relief for me is 1/2 a loritab. It fixes me up quick in most instances. My prescription is about to run out though and I hate to ask for a refill, they make you feel like a drug addict even though one prescription lasts me over a year.

I have taken Librax for IBS (as well as Lorazepam for Generalized Anxiety Disorder) for over a year now and not had any problems with addiction, feeling over-medicated, etc. I would not be concerned about it unless addiction or prescription misuse has been a problem you've had in the past.

I am really trying to find anyone who is taking both Xanax and Librax on a regular basis. I have generalized anxiety and panic disorder hence the Xanax, but need Librax for IBS and can't find out if it is okay to take them together.

TheBigA-I would love to hear how you are doing now and if you are still taking that combination with no problems.

Also anyone else that has any experience with this would be helpful.

I take no meds for my IBS I just try to watch what I eat,NO GREASY FOODS.....

Have you asked your doctor about the med combo?

The other is usally you can ask your pharmicist about meds.

I just started taking LIBRAX, and I REALLY hope it works. I will take the fatigue over the cramps/pain any day, although I am very tired all the time from the Lyme anyway. I take Ativan on occasion and that has really helped with my Lyme related shaking and anxiety, as well as the stomach spasms, but I am trying not to take the Ativan that often-even though it is a wonder drug for Lyme /IBS patients. I don't know about Xanax, but my doctor and my pharmacist both said it is OK to take Ativan and Librax together. I will let you guys know how the Librax works for me.

I did really well with Librax. A few side effects like dry mouth. Then one day I woke up with very low blood pressure. This scared me enough that I haven't taken it again. My doctor said it would be ok to continue to use Librax. This was a one time thing, after taking it for years. It really did help with the intestinal spasms.

just curious tho there ozarker, have you ever tried any diet modification to see if it might help ? not saying a fix would be in store, but maybe just a bit of relief in some ways - sorry for all your challenges - sad
