Bright red blood in stool

Hi, for the past few months every now and then when I make a bowel movement I see bright red blood when whiping, not a lot just a drop or two, and afterwards my anus is itchy. I'm overweight and I smoke, and once in a while I have diarrhea. This scares me since i'm only 20 years old, what could it be and what should I do?

it sounds just like a hemmroid to me.....but, i would go to a GI to get checked for ulcerative colitis too

sounds like hemmeroids to me, I have UC but at the moment am dealing with hemmeroids and the blood is bright red on the toilet paper and drops in the bowl. Take a mirror and look down there sometimes you can see swollen viens at the rectum or purple masses. If it is hemmeroids its best to use alot vaseline, increase your fibre like metamucil and take 15min baths throughtout the day if possible to keep the area clean and to help for inflammation.
