Hello everyone. I am a long time IBS sufferer who had been symptom free for a long time. Since the death of my father, grandmother and 13 yr old...it has returned. My life is very stressful on other fronts as well. I have recently had a colonoscopy, endoscopy and celiacs test only for the doctor to tell me they can find nothing wrong. Here is what I am currently taking...

1 Benefiber Pill twice daily
.5 Bentyl twice daily
1 digestive advantage once daily
1 zyrtec

I also have a fast acting levbid generic to take when needed. Lately I have been having a lot of bloating, cramping and icky bowels. Dark stools from time to time etc...the doctor says there is nothing they can do about that. The fast acting Levbid usually helps. But here is the deal. What else out there is there? I am becoming anxious again b/c of these problems. I am worried about traveling with co-wokers which my new position will require me to do. Please anybody I will take any suggestions you may have.

Also, can I take immodium and/or zantac with this meds?

Aww, so sorry to read how much you're struggling. Losing loved ones (even pets, I'm a dog owner so I completely understand how much you must miss your sweet dog) is very stressful. And stress is not good for the gut. In a perfect world, stress wouldn't affect the gut like it does. But this is not a perfect world is it?

I wish I had concrete suggestions for you but I do not. So the next best thing I can do is bump up your topic so others see it, hopefully you'll receive help. If for nothing else, I share your discomfort. Having a normal gut is great but when it's not normal, it impacts the rest of your life so much. This I know well......hang in there.

  Hi ask your doc or find a doc that will give you a Sitz Marker test...that will tell you if your colon and sm intestines are doing what they should.  I had all that done that you did and they told me the exact same thing..  So went out on my own and had the test run and sure enough, my colon was not working and so full it was ready to rupture.  So they did a total colectomy,  read the one that says total colectomy changed my life...I feel great and it will be 2 months tomorrow....life is back and it is good..  So good luck to you and being on her you will find to be of great comfort and help..they helpd me so much and I am so thankful for all their suggestion and love and support...

Sorry about your current IBS problems. Just when I think I have it under control., something new presents itself. Nausea is a big problem with me and I've finally got a gastro man that will give me something for it--yes, it's a chemo drug but I don't care--it helps. I also changed probiotics because I understand one only works for a certain amount of time and then it's time to change -- VSL III is wonderful (expensive--$42 for 30 days) but it's been worth it to me. I've had all lthe tests--even went for a food allergy test and the only thing that showed up is eggs. Have you checked the website helpforibs.com? Heather (a sufferer of IBS) writes it and has a CD available that's wonderful. I've avoided all the foods, done everything that's supposed to help and I've been up all night with diarrhea because I took lomotil two days ago so I could make it through a day with friends without a problem. This whole thing sucks and there is no one answer for anyone.
