Joan, what high blood pressure med is it?
That's quite a bit of medications already for sure.
With all due respect the "second brain" is called the enteric nervous system and exists in all humans and is very important in IBS, as well as physiology. It has a 100 million nerve fibers as many as the spinal cord and deveops with the embryo along with the brain and is connected to the brain by the vagus nerve. This allows digestion to run on its own without conciously having to think to digest your food. It has all the chemicals found in the brain. It does not"think" like the brain but they believe it can help shape emotions. Its also an important warning system and part of the guts immune system as well."
This helps explain it some.
