Just have to vent - we now are using an energy efficient dishwasher that uses less water but guess what - it doesn't get our dishes clean! And it takes 120 minutes to complete one cycle.
That's my latest 2010 appliance/water conserving idea/example for you.
So over the weekend my daughter invites 2 friends home from college. And our powder room toilet decides to spring a leak. All over the wood floor in that room. But the water was dripping from above I thought. Meaning, the second floor full bathroom above was leaking. I'm home alone, this daughter and her friends, are out water skiing on our ski boat with hubby. I kept calling him on the cell phone frantic - we have water all over the floor. He of course said - turn off the main valve. And I said - I'm checking into a hotel! Because well I poop ALL the frickin' time.....I can't go without a toilet.
Okay so I mop up the water, then he comes home much later, after I uh was doing some mind tricks (don't freak out Mary, this will all be fine, one of my main worries was we'd need a plumber who would need to be at our house for hours and I'd have to be present when he'd be working on the plumbing, meaning I couldn't hold bm's for 4+ hours!!!!).
Turns out the water was from the powder room's toilet tank's pump. The seal or something had to be replaced. We could turn off this tank at the wall but also insert an ordinary ink pen to hold something in place so the tank wouldn't keep wanting to flush (I have no idea what I'm trying to explain but whatever, it worked, we had water again).
Replaced the part yesterday and guess what - now I have less water to flush with. For #1. Heavens. I can't live like this I told my husband. What do I do when I'm really messed up?
I might as well start crapping behind a tree.....lol
I just had to vent. It seems that when you go to that plumbing section at Home Depot nearly all products state - water saving, etc. One box said - quick fill. I have lousy eyes now so when hubby said - hey Mary, here's exactly what you want - quick fill! I put on my glasses to see that the box said - quiet fill. I yelled outloud in that aisle - QUIET FILL, who the he** wants that? lol
Oh the things you want and think of when you have bm issues.
Here's what I really want - the flushing and water pressure of a commercial toilet in a residential setting (in interstate rest stop bathroom or better yet, the ones you find at casino's!).....
Do you all have issues with the way your toilet's flush, don't flush or when traveling, do you long for quick, forceful flushes like I do?
And oh yeah at one point I was using 2 buckets, one to fill the tank from our hot tub and the other to keep in the kitchen, to wash our hands (water from the hot tub again).
Water - suddenly when you're w/o it you want it!
