I don't know if I have IBS but doc is suggesting VSL#3 to try to address food allergy-like symptoms. I take probiotics, which is what VSL is, but wondered what kind of luck anyone has had with it. It's really expensive, have searched around internet for a good price but lowest I could find was $52. for the capsules. Thanks for any ideas!

Head on over to the Ulcerative Colitis forum here. Many there take VSL #3 and could instantly tell you the difference between VSL and regular probiotics.

I myself have found help and noticed a marked improvement from taking Renew Life, Critical Colon, 80 Billion Count, found at Health Food Stores in the chilled section near yogurt and oils. A bottle of 30 capsules runs me about $47. Worth every penny IMO.

But again, you'll find rapid responses on the UC forum. For some odd reason this IBS forum isn't all that busy (but maybe that is a good thing? Maybe fewer people have IBS than we think.....I don't know but even if you don't have the UC diagnosis, they will still help you over there).
