What kind of bile supplement are you taking?
Don't believe it when doctor's tell you to eat anything you want after having your gallbladder removed! This was certainly not the case for me and I am 7 months post op. I feel a lot better than I did, but far from perfect.
I was lucky, my surgeon understood that you need to eat low fat and gradually introduce foods after surgery, this will give your bile duct time to slowly come back on line. My surgeon also told me that the gallbladder stored excess bile produced by the liver. Without the gallbladder, the bile is excreted into your intestines, thus the diarrhea and irritation. Eating low fat will definitely help, also avoiding red meat and fatty dairy products.
I got a prescription for Welchol at 8 weeks after my surgery. I found it worked, but it was causing constipation, which led to other problems so I no longer take it. Some people get good results from taking Calcium supplements. I have better luck eating yogurt daily, Stonyfield has probiotics in it, also taking probiotics might help you. I also take Citrucel daily, it helps believe it or not with both diarrhea or constipation. Oatmeal, flax, apples will also provide fiber that help to bulk up the stools, just remember to drink a lot of water or too much fiber will have the opposite result.
I guess the answer is to try things out to see how they work, what works for me might not work for you. Good luck and I hope you feel better.
