Hey all,
I have a question that I'm hoping one of our veteran members could answer. I just found out that I have contracted C. Difficile, except I'm not convinced this has 'just happened'.
Back in 2006 I was put on either PenVK or Clindamyacin *pretty sure it was Clinda*. Anywho, not long after this prescript
ion is when my first big issue arose with some painful cramping, bowel movements, and mucus. Eventually the mucus turned into blood, I couldn't eat ANYTHING raw or I would severely bloat, and 1) my stupid doctor didn't think to ask for a stool sample and 2) she then told me that my condition was 'psychosomatic'...GRRR!! And to not help matters, my own parents weren't sure of what to make this. Fast forward a bit; I was told to start eating yogurts, and taking the probiotic, Acidophilus, and it only took 6 months to hear what I could try. It took a while, but the treatments were working. From there on if I felt what I could only describe as a 'kick in my gut, accompanied by painful gas, I'd take a few Acidophilus. The kicking and pain would than subside and I could go on with my day.
Fast forward again to now. I'm wondering this; is it possible that I have been suffering with C. Difficile this whole time, judging by the impact of the probiotic treatment, and therefore causing other systems in my body to go hay-wire? I ask because I also have Fibromyalgia and if it turns out this is due to some bacteria that could have been prevented with some stupid stool test, some answers need to be asked. See, tell me I'm wrong, but if you hear from a patient 'I HAVE BLOOD IN MY STOOL', why aren't you doing a stool sample???
My life has been up-side down since this all started with, what I can only call, IBS attacks. Then my right hip started hurting, which went to the left, and blossomed all over my body into Fibromyalgia *grrr!*.
Any help you may be able to offer me would be quite helpful
Thanks
