Hi there Aravinds,
Have you ever suffered from sleep apnea? It's worth looking it up as this may be the cause.
What I am wondering is why you're on an IBS section of this forum?
Do you suffer from angina? Stomach problems can cause disturbances in your sleep like any problem, so if you wake up in the night with stomach cramping it is the most likely cause of it. Sleep apnea can cause you to be breathless when you wake up and cause palpitations of the heart, but not the brain..
When you say brain palpitations.. this could be just you tensing or flexing the muscles of the brain.. are you sure you're not straining when you're trying to sleep.. as this maye cause your muscles in your head and scalp to contract causing tension. This might also bring on prolonged headaches and anxiety problems which can be linked to stress.
Please get back to me on this, I am very interested to hear what you have to say in answer to these questions, thanks.
Regards,
