Hi all. I was dxd with ulcerative colitis last june and have been sorta managing since..

Around march this year i started getting new pain. it in my upper abdomen under my ribs in the middle. my stomach is sticking out and full of gas and the pain is horrible. it gets worse when i eat and is there all day morning to night. its so bad at night that staying still is my only relief.
im currently starting my 4th week of the pain 24/7..
Ive been to 4 gps about it. 2 suggested gallstones 1 said h-pyroli and another didnt offer any opinion.. se put me on domerid which made me worse so i stopped them..

to date ive tried zantac, zotrole, domerid, imogas, colofak, peppermint tea, slippery elm and activated charcoal.
Oh and lots and lots of pain killers to which make very little difference.

So yous IBS veterens does it sound like IBS to you.

Im at a loss.

Have you tried a gluten free diet? Some people with IBD become intolerant of gluten. In my experience, that caused a lot of upper GI gas and pain, plus soft stool.

no i havent tried gluten free. im a slimming world trying to beat the bulge so i havent ate bread or cereals in a long time.. my main source of carbs are potatoes and pasta or rice. i wouldnt say im gluten free but its minimal amounts.
I had a gastrocopy yesterday and everything looked normal so im of for an ultrasound next. MY GI said to me "it sounds like IBS to me" so i guess im asking does this sound typical of IBS?

Pasta is made with wheat. My experience with going gluten free that "gluten lite" is just not going to cut it. You really have to eliminate it completely to evaluate whether you are dealing with an intolerance or not. And you need to do it for a couple of weeks.

Since you're already avoiding bread and cakes, go ahead and go all the way. Get yourself some gluten-free pasta and trade your soy sauce for tamari (soy sauce is made with wheat). Examine labels of any processed food you're eating and keep it gluten free. It's probably not going to be that hard for you.

spose i could do that. im nearly there anyway like you said. i had curry this eve with rice(home made) and could only eat half of it. afterwards i was blown out and sore again. go figure. normally theres no filling me and it wouldnt bother me.
