I'm sure we've all heard that IBS is most common in women.... I would like to see the ratio here at HW. Please participate and give us your gender. (Hopefully the results will pop up - I have never done a poll here.)

Well, according to my poll the statistics are right. The women to men ration is 7:1.

7Lil,
I would keep in mind that there might be a possibility that women are more likely to respond to this type of poll. Just a thought!

Bump!
We got some new members so I wanted to put this back out there.
Thanks for participating in my little survey.

so, are men less likely to get IBS, or less likely to want to talk about
their poop?

LOL Good question, spengler.
Statistically women are more likely to have IBS. I think I just read that 70% of all IBSers are women.

If the menstral cycle affects women's digestion, then IBS may have some links to hormones or hormonal fluctuation which are more prevelant in women than in men.

I would think that talking about
pooh would be right up mens alleys (pun intended of course, LOL)...although it's probably all together different when they discuss in regards to health matters, funny creatures men are...most of them won't go to the doc even if they're on their deathbed, yet they catch a little cold and it's like the whole world is comming to an end...and they say us chicks are impossible to figure out, huh!
:) all in good fun boys, take no offense, besides, you know it's true :)

You know pb4, that is such an interesting point... you think men can talk about
poop all day however studies suggest that more men don't come forward with their symptoms because they have a harder time talking about
this with the doctor. Goes to show you that we have a lot to learn about
the opposite sex. My hubby is one of those few that can't be figured out. He does it on purpose though LOL.
